My brother is a teacher in a small town in KS with a high poverty level (greater than 50% of the kids are on free or reduced lunches - to qualify you cannot be more than 130% of the national poverty level which is $23K per year for a family of four). Anyway, he is the PE teacher and assistant principal of a small consolidated school district. For many of the kids in his school, good nutrition is not a key part of their lives. Because of this, he feels that PE and learning about remaining active in life is even more critical.
Sonic is sponsoring a contest (limeades for learning) to fund projects that teachers submit. My brother has a project submitted (and so does my sister in law). They would appreciate your votes! You can vote for them by registering and then going to Location - Kansas, District - West Elk. My brother's project is called Move... Motivate... Motorskills. Take the time to read his submission - it will tell you a little about how much he cares! My sister-in-laws project is Organized Space, Organized Mind.
You can vote daily! Please spread the word. Thanks!! If you have an extra $5, you can also donate to fund the projects through DonorsChoose - an excellent organization to help fund education!
