wedding shower??
Permalink Closed

My best friend is getting married in October and I know NOTHING about giving wedding showers. I have a limited budget of slim to none. Any suggestions or thoughts? I'm her maid of honor so I think it's my job to host one, right? I'm the only bridesmaid so there's not really anyone to share the burden with. She's very nontraditional so the typical party games won't really work for her.

I'll take any suggestions/ideas you bridal gals have!

You do have a lot of responability, but you shouldn't have to take on the whole financial burden!! Typically only one person "hosts" the shower and that name is on the invite, but many plan it. Get in touch with her mom and her MIL to be to ask for their help and stuff.

Some ideas: since she isn't very traditional and it's in October, maybe plan a harvest theme shower. Find an apple orchard or pumpkin patch in your area, one you can spend the day at that has some activities like a hay ride, pumpkin decorating or apple picking. Some have restaurants attached that serve like fresh apple pie and cider, just go there when you finish with activities and open some gifts and have a snack. That way you don't have to pay to get something catered. Maybe you and her mom and MIL to be can split the costs of activities if they cost anything, and then everyone can pay for whatever snack they want.

May sound lame, but it's just a fun fall idea, I really love the fall and think a day like that would be really cool.

Good luck!

I have planned several showers and I love doing them. I think the key is to narrow in on the bride's style. I wrote this feature last Spring and this might help you get started, you can replace my pink and green with autumn colors! PM if you would like more help, I would be glad to help. I have lots of ideas brewing for a fall shower! I am a very non-traditional bride to be myself also, so I can see from that perspective.
How to throw a perfect bridal shower!
