My Mom sent me this forward and I was very skeptical. I tried it at work today with one of my coworkers and it actually worked for both our cars! Here is a copy of the email, also, I will add that we tried the trunk but it didn't work.

Another way to Unlock Your Car

One can't believe it, but this works -- who'd a "thunk" it??? Have you locked the keys in the car?

If you lock your keys in the car and the spare keys are home, call someone at home on your cell phone and ask them to get your car keys. Hold your cell phone about a foot from your car door and have the other person at home
press the unlock button on your keys while holding it near the receiver end. Your car will unlock. It will save someone from having to drive your keys to you. Distance is no object. You could be hundreds of miles away, and if
you can reach someone who has the "remote" for your car, you will be able to unlock the doors (or the trunk this way!)

I hope this may help someone in the future!

did you really try it???  what kind of cars do you guys have?  i just lost a bet & now owe my coworker 2 lunches (we had 3:1 odds so i would have gotten 6 lunches if i had been right).  i tried it on two hondas, one w/ a dealer remote, one w/ an installed remote.  neither worked!  i was so sure too, i'm gonna try it again after work w/ a different make of car.  let me know what EXACTLY you did (i.e. how close was the remote person to the car, where did the phone person point the phone, what kind of car, etc.)  thanks!

Crystal - Yes we really tried it! I have a Mercedes and my boss has a Hyundai. I stood as far away from my car so that when I tried to unlock it, it wouldn't unlock. My boss stood a foot away and held the phone facing the door. We had to try it a few times until it worked, but it finally did. Also, it doesn't work if you stand too close to the door. That's why it didn't work the first few times we tried. We were both standing outside in the parking lot on our cell phones. Now I don't know if it works through a landline though. Like I said the before we tried the trunk but it didn't work and it also doesn't work if you try to lock it. I would just keep trying. I know it sounds crazy. We were truly amazed ourselves! I wouldn't lie to my stylethreaders!

Bizarre!  I almost thought that was a trick to fool you!   I will try it soon!  I can't actually lock the keys in my car since I only lock the doors from the outside with my remote.

It will not work on a landline.  You must call from a cellphone.  It is the GPS/satellite technology via the cellphone that is allowing the car to unlock.

it worked for me too!  Weird that its not supposed to work,  I was somewhere deep in my house where it NEVER unlocks my car and it worked on the phone.  Is it 100% wrong?  Did anyone acheive results from really really far away?
