So I'm at the grocery store waiting in line to checkout, and there's a woman and her 2 kids (ages maybe 2 & 4). The 2 year old kind of whines "Wa-Wa" (water) and the mom replies with "You don't need water; we have pop in the car".

Wha??

I might be the only one, but that just sounds effed up to me :/.....

Yeah, I've heard on the news that kids these days are getting OLDER people diseases, like diabetes, how sad is that?

not to be a jerk, but maybe the mom just didn't want to pay for whatever bottled water the kid was pointing to while she was busy trying to check out at the store, when he had a drink in the car that they could go get in 2 minutes.  i don't know that that means she never gives him water to drink.

I understand about not paying for a bottle of water, but there are drinking fountains in the store also...

Hmmm...I could buy the idea that she didn't want to buy the kids water, but I generally don't think kids that age should be drinking soda either.   Hell, I don't think people should drink much soda at any age.

I'm a reformed Diet Pepsi addict.

I agree completely.  Two year olds should NOT be drinking soda.  That is just too young.  Heck, my mom barely let me have it til I was like, 12.

Eh...I don't think it was that bad.  I'm just thinking of my friend's 2 year old and he gets off on asking for things to drink and either just drinking one sip or just spilling it on the floor.  I agree that she probably just didn't want to buy the child the water.

That is terrible!  My mom never let me or my siblings to have any soda until we were much older, about 11 years old.  My sister let's her 2 year old have soda and sugary drinks all the time.

Uh oh...I'm in for it on this topic...I let my 2 year old share some of my rootbeer when we got out (once or twice a month) for fast food.  But c'mon, the rest of the month I'm a health food freak...does that condone it???  Please???
