Grrrr... Lucky Magazine
Permalink Closed

So I never received my August Lucky issue (or my Sept. Issue thusfar).  We moved recently and I figured my address change had put a kink in the system somewhere and it wasn't sent by mistake.  I just went online to email customer service to see if I could get an extension on my subscription and my account was expired!  No notification, no offer for renewal, nothing!

Grrrr... I know it's not the end of the world but it just ticks me off when I miss issues!  They can screw off - I renewed through Mags for Less and got my year subscription for $3.33 ... so there!

Does Mags for Less have a website?  I discontinued Lucky when I didn't get three months worth in a row...and they sent me a bill for the next year anyhow!!!

I've had this problem before and I emailed them to let me know and they said they would extend my subscription by an issue (or however many you missed).  There does seem to be a lack of organization over at Lucky though.  I think several of us have had lost/late issues.

They have really good deals - I got my new Lucky subscription in a 3-mag package (Lucky, Shop Etc, and Bazaar) for $9.99.  You also accumulate 'points' that you can use to get free subscriptions.  I highly recommend them!

Yeah, I've had problems, too. I never received the August 2004 (yes, last year) issue, so I e-mailed them and they extended my subscription by a month.

This is the first time I've ordered from Mags for Less, but they have come highly recommended from other STers in past posts - they've got to be better than Lucky!

I just got a response to the email that I sent telling them that I was upset I hadn't been notified of my expiration and had therefore already missed 2 issues.

"Your renewal has been added to your present subscription and you will continue to receive your issues without interruption. The new expiration date will appear on your address label in the near future. Please disregard any renewal notices you may receive."

DUMBASSES!

Wow - how come mag subscriptions are so cheap on Mags for Less?  Is there some sort of catch?  Do magazines come a lot later or something?  I really want to subscrible to Lucky and Shop, etc. through here, but can someone who's used them let me know how the service is?

Funny, I've recently had the opposite experience with my Lucky supscription... I subcribed for ONE year of Lucky in July 2004. I was expecting to get a renewal notice or something, but I got nothing. I didn't really think anything of it until I opened the mailbox one day and found the August issue of Lucky. I looked through my mag, subsrciption folder (I always thought it was a silly idea to keep something like that, but I'm glad I listened to my mom ) and sure enough, I was right... my confirmation email from 2004 said I subscribed to Lucky for ONE YEAR. Supposedly, they charged my account without my consent... I emailed them and they credited my account. They're either really sneaky or really unorganized over there at Lucky . I, too, subscribed to a few mags at magsforless after I read about it here on ST... nothing yet, but I'm sure they'll be much better.

My boyfriend got some magazines from magazines for less, and he recieved them very fast. I also ordered my mom Martha Stewart Living for her birthday from there for like $12.00.

Yeah, that's what Lucky does.  They just renew with the card you used the first time.  They always send me a letter though, saying they will be doing it.

I actually just caught this thread yesterday and checked my subscription, and it said expired (which may be because my account went negative for like a day, so maybe the charge didn't go through), so I hoped on to MagsForLess and ordered through them.  You can't beat the price.

Oh yeah, Disney Adventures does that too.  When I was alot younger, I used to love reading it, then I got bored and told my mom to stop subscribing to it.  But they just charge her automatically and she always forgets to stop it.  Anyways, years and years passed.  Now my sister reads it, but think about all the $$ that they took...

I ordered from Mags from less back in August. I received my Marie Claire a month ago, and have already gotten two issues, October and November. I still have yet to get my Lucky Mag.

Don't feel bad - I ordered Lucky from Mags for Less in August too, and I have yet to get my first issue.  I actually emailed Mags for Less about it and he replied back saying that they have up to 10 weeks to get it to me - whatever   I'm a little disappointed.  It makes me think it's never going to come!

I ordered about 5 subscriptions from one of these services (can't remember which) and Lucky is the ONLY one that takes forever to get to me.

I got my Lucky right on time last month - around the 10th.  It is currently Oct 21st and my November Lucky is no where in sight!

Did I ever tell you all what happened with the Lucky CS?  They said they'd mail me the August issue since I didn't receive it and had already bought the Sept issue.  Guess what showed up in my mail box last month?  The SEPTEMBER issue!

I give up.

OMFG!!!

I just got a bill in the mail saying that I owe Lucky $12 or they are cancelling my freaking subscription!  ARGGGGGGGGHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!  When I emailed their CS saying that I had already renewed but was wondering why I never received a renewal notice before I expired last time, the A$$HAT who responded didn't read pay attention when I said that I'd already renewed and they renewed me AGAIN, hence the bill.  F*&^$%S!

FIST OF DEATH TO THE LUCKY CUSTOMER SERVICE!!!  DO YOU HEAR ME!?!?!

ETA:  Oh and did I mention that somehow they put my business name as Olinger Travel Homes, Inc.?  Olinger freakin' Travel Homes, people!
