Be Honest - Too Country??
Permalink Closed

Trying to pull some looks together for fall parties and festivals.  The thing is I want to wear my new boots (they were supposed to ship today, cannot wait to get them!) but I don't want to look to country/western.  What do you think of these outfits??  Oh, and I used the same pair of jeans on everyone to make it easier, but I'll obviously be wearing my Citizens a lot too!

I would add jewelry, or course!

I really love your new boots!  I like outfit #2 the best.  The blouse in #1 makes the outfit a little too "country", I think.  I love the blouse separately, but tucked into a pencil skirt - not with jeans.  #3 is ok, but I have seen you pull together better outfits in the past.

I really like country-ish boots used in an ironic way - with really girl-y shirts (much like your #2).

ok, I am in Texas and the country girls I see are not wearing anything like those jeans or those pretty tops with their boots.  Those boots are beautiful, by the way.

I agree, #1 is too country and I LOVE #2.  I would like #3 with a cool/chunky necklace.

Some other cute long sleeve tops could be...

i like all those outfits! they are not too country at all.

if you think that #1 is a little country, add an urban element to it to make it not so western. like a velvet blazer or a tough rock and roll studded belt.

maybe i'm just a cowgirl at heart.

The outfits are fine.  Since the boots or the top doesn't have that country motif stitching, it's not too cowgirl.

i love outfit #2.  i don't think #1 is too country either, i would just be careful with accessories- no cowboy hats :)

I like the second outfit the best.  The first one is a little too country looking to me, but with the right accessories it could work.  I think some modern jewelry and the right purse would make it look just fine.

I love all of your outfits. Okay, i never pay attention to the boot post since i live in florida and would wear them so little. However, my husband and i are thinking of buying a condo in the snowy West so a pair of boots might be in order. I really like the ones you ordered. Who are they, wear are they and how much if you dont mind me asking.

#1 might be a little too country, with the ruffly blouse. I love the other outfits though, esp. the middle one. That brown top is sooo cute. And I love your boots.

i like them all esp. #1, but i love that gap top. i agree with dot. if you're concerned add some extra accessories that aren't so country. like if you added a long chunky necklace to #1 (like a kukui nut one) it would instantly become funky instead of country.

Thanks everyone.  I would definetly add a necklace to the first one, I should have posted that.  The boots are Fryes and they haven't arrived yet.  I ordered them Monday.  I'll be sure to post a review as soon as the UPS man drops them off!!  Thanks again.
