Okay, you are talking to the scrapbook chair of my sorority. Yes, a noble position I know. Anywho, I find that the best way to scrapbook and the way that will last the longest is this-Take your cardstock or fancy sheet, whatever, put picks on with double sided tape then decorate. Then use the book that has the protector sheet and just slide in your finished page. I find that double sided tape works best and your work will be safe behind the clear sheet. HTH Oh, don't you just freaking hate how expensive scrapbooking is?! My chapter gave me $40 for the budget. I'm like, uhhhh...okay, that buys me a book with nothing else.

I just sent you a pm about mine and my thoughts. I'm trying to upload a few pics for you. I did forget to mention that most scrapbook stores sell double sided squares that you can use to put on the back of your pics and stuff. They are worth the $$. It makes life easier. Make sure that anything you put in your scrapbook is acid free. I just saw my mom's old baby scrapbook that her mom did and acid free wasn't available and most of it is ruined from the acid on the pages, the tape, and the pics.

Here are the beginning of my pics:

These are from my mom's scrapbook I started to make a few years ago. This is when I first started scrapbooking. Its a strap hinge book from Walmart.

Card stock over the blank white page, printed paper, cardstock, picture (layered). I used the little squares on each sheet to get it to stick right. The little white things are snaps and that is what we used the sledgehammers for Great stress relief!

This is my second scrapbooking attempt. Much better. Its a 3 ring binder type album with the photomagnetic sheets that I hate. It is also a strange shape so I can't find more pages for it (my sorority big sis gave it to me)

I am a dork!!

I have spent hundreds of $$$ on supplies. I find it best to get the books with the protective covers. That way you can dictate more what you want your pages to looks like ... pick your own papers, etc.

I was introduced to Creative Memories with my mom back in 1995, their main selling point was that all their products were acid free....which was rare in an album back then. I think it's a great way to get started because there is some uniformity to the products and the albums, and if an item is discontinued, you can find tons of the brand on ebay. I loyally use CM products the most, but when I need cooler or hipper stickers and such, I frequent the scrapbook stores, these stores have popped up like crazy in the past few years, they even have scrapbooking stuff at Target. These days even the cheap manufacturers have caught on to the acid free method, so you can't go wrong.

My most important tools are a cutting system, circle and oval shapes, and a corner rounder.

As for an album, I only use CM, but there are plenty of other brands similar, they are pretty sturdy.

do you know a place you can get fonts off the internet for scrapbooking?

i am making a scrapbook for my hubby for his birthday.

i find cool stuff on ebay, traget, walmart, michaels, scrapbook stores, parties and trading with friends.

you can use old cards, ribbons, buttons, match book, puzzle pieces, etc. Just keep a box where you keep all kinds of knickknacks.
