Leggings: yes or no?
Permalink Closed

I've been noticing that most people either love or hate leggings.  Personally, I love them...so comfortable! And you can get away with wearing short dresses in the fall. But am I a fashion faux pas if I keep wearing them?

I ask because I just started working with CAbi clothing and I'm going to my first party this week.  I was thinking of buying the leggings they show on the CAbi Canary blog, but I don't want to get them if no one is going to be wearing them this year.

I still see leggings in all the magazines for the Fall so I say if you love them, wear them. Jeggings are also pretty popular. Just please don't wear them as pants. Under dresses and tops that cover your butt, yes, with a top that hits at the waist? Please no!

I have one pair of black legging that I bought last year yet haven't worn yet. I just don't feel like I have enough "on" when I try to wear them with a tunic or thigh length sweater (I feel like I left the house without my bottoms!). I'll probably just use them as tights with boots this year. But also keep in mind that I'm 37 (almost 38) and may no longer be the demographic for the trend (man, that was hard to say!)

I too like the comfort of leggings. I must also confess I have my eyes peeled for some jeggings too (to be worn with my butt covered, of course!)

So are jeggings just leggings that look like denim? I might have to start looking out for some!

The jeggings at Gap seem to be getting good reviews (both from Gap's website, but a few blogs too). I keep putting them in my cart then not buying them...

I love the legging trend - butts covered!  I don't think 38 is too old!

I like leggings as long as they are not a pants substitute.

I tried on a pair of James jeggings about four times at Anthro in early summer. Just couldn't pull the trigger, but I really liked the idea of them for Fall. I may break down and give them another shot. They seemed like they would tuck into boots easily and make the look more streamlined at the knees.

gg- Thanks! I don't feel old (and I've been told that I look younger than my age), but also the last thing I want to be is one of those women who dress like they don't realize they aren't in college anymore! Lately I'm always second guessing my clothing choices to make sure that I look stylish and chic and not like I'm trying to dress young for the sake of being young, you know?

I think someone is only too old for something if they're wearing it to try to look young. If you wear trendy items that are flattering and style your ensemble for the proper level of sophistication for your age, you're just fine.

I will probably wear mine with boots ranging from uggs to heels and something that covers my ass, like a long cardigan, tunic, or sweater.

I pulled the trigger and bought these for $24 on overstock:

boots -- they also have the james jeggings or jean leggings for $50something

Love leggings and jeggings worn with longer tops and shorter dresses. But not as pants with butts exposed.

*Update* I went to the CAbi party last week and it was a lot of fun! I didn't end up getting the leggings because these particular ones didn't fit me right, but a few other girls did and they are very happy with their purchases. I'll find some that fit me soon! I did get the Twist Neck Tee from the "Chelsea" Collection which is so comfortable and soft.

Has anyone here ever gotten clothes from CAbi or been to a party before?
