Camping Trip Fun Clothes...kinda long
Permalink Closed

so i'm doing this volunteer camping trip thing in mid September, during the day we will be setting up trails, etc...at night we will be sitting around at the campfire and i will be wearing hoodies/long sleeve tees with jeans/juicy maybe, and shorts. since i need to invest in some hoodies/long sleeve tees for running errands in the fall/winter (see Weekend Shopping thread) i would like to buy nice ones instead of cheap ones that i will never wear again...i did this when i went to costa rica, bought about $200 worth of junk tees, jeans, running shorts, etc...and the clothes didn't get ruined as they claimed they would, so i was stuck with all kinds of stuff that went to good will.

i am looking to buy one more hoodie (i bought this Grail one this weekend) and this 2bfree one:

Click to Zoom 2 B Free Skull Fly Jacket in green.

so anything graphic, not boring, i have a couple plain juicy ones already.

also, any cool long sleeve or short sleeve (i'll wear with a long underneath) tees would be appreciated.

i don't really know any brands that sell these types of hoodies, grail, ed hardy, 2bfree, and great china wall (which i can't find so a link would be great too), are all that i can think of.

during the day this will be a typical outfit:

G Star Battle Short Scrapbook Print Thermal Tank Chaco Z/2 - Terreno Outsole

and some short cotton shorts that i have with tanks.

so i think everything will blend together.

i know it's stupid that i'm planning outfits for this trip, but i need this stuff for fall and i think it will work well for the trip while trying to remain stylish (despite no electricity).  i will be with a lot of my bf's friends gfs/fiances, that i have met but don't know and  i know one girl (probably more) will be dressed in more than just sweats as well.

don't think i'm totally high-maintainence.  i've gone camping with my bf many times before, and if it was just him i would just wear my stained sweatshirts that i already have, i just don't really know these girls, but i know what they're like.

THANKS SO MUCH, I FEEL LIKE I'M BEING SO NEEDY TODAY!!!

OMG! this is too funny.

I am going camping for the first time in y-e-a-r-s this weekend.. and just thought, "what do I wear?" I'm so out of my element!

Here are some cool Tevas (did I just say cool Tevas?) that I saw. Not really cool but less Teva-y. Thought I would share.

I love horses... but I'm not sure this is what you're looking for.

This is cute too.

Sorry I'm not of much help. This kinda thing isn't really my forte, but I just wanted to share the Tevas!

There is no shame in planning outfits for a camping trip - I think it falls under the "be prepared" boy scout/camping requirements.

I love those urban shorts - you must get them.

I had to buy shoes for a rafting trip, and I got a pair of chacos like these:

Chaco Z/2 Colorado Sandals - Women's - LUPINE

Not my style AT ALL but they were really comfortable.  You can probably get a pair on sale, since it's the end of the summer.

If you are doing work during the day, my other rec is a dri-fit top from Nike or Underarmour like this:

Seamless Nike Sphere Sleeveless Top

They're cute, keep you from becoming a sweaty mess, and you can wear them afterwards at the gym.

I don't know if this helps but I was at Target today & they have some really cute & soft vintage looking graphic tees for $10 - I know you are looking for nicer stuff, but these were cute & cheap, but I am putting them in my regular clothing rotation & looking for boleros & such to wear over them in the fall, so I'm not counting them as "junky" sleep in kind of tees, if that makes sense! They aren't on the website yet - but I am seriously stalking a Mickey Mouse & superman one that they had but were out of my size.

I love your idea for the graphic tees, laken1 !! I have a couple I wear under cardigans, etc in the fall, winter. My favorites are Betty Boop and Emily(she is wearing red shoes and it says"Emily knows there is no place like alone")-I wear that one when I am feeling super perky because it is a nice foil!! Ha ha. I would love to find a superman one and I am dying for some cool music ones, specifically Bob Dylan and Pink Floyd. The great part is, those rock tees are actually made to fit women now!! Back when I was wearing them in school(and I am seriously dating myself now) the only thing available was big non-fitted sloppy boy shirts. This didn't stop me from wearing them then, but now I am excited at all the fitted rock shirts out there!! Oh, I am also wanting a Beatles tee. (sorry to butt in on your thread , shopgirl82. Some of the rock tees out there are high quality. Get your favorite band or a band you used to love and wear with pride!!!)

shut up!!! you are NOT butting in on my thread!!!  i had a roommate in college who's name was
Emily and Urban Outfitters had these Emily Tees.  Like for instance, "When Emily's mad she sees red..."

Be Odd Get Even

and i bought her one and secretly wished my name was Emily because i loved Emily the Strange.  anyway, i have a ton of vintage concert tees and two Trunk Ltd. concert tees. so i want to wear random tees since all the people i will be with are more of the beatles, doors, etc...generation than i am.  so i will feel weird wearing them when it's more their generation's music, if that makes sense.

jj i have had those sandals for years now and have taken them to the grand cayon, costa rica, yellowstone, santa fe, etc... my kayaking instructor had them in santa fe so i knew they were the ones to have.  i don't mind their look so much except they leave horrible tan lines.

dot where's that sweatshirt from?  who's the designer?  it makes me feel better that i'm not the only one who plans camping outfits.
