dressing for NYC thunderstorms?? help!

I'll be in NYC this coming weekend, and I have no idea what to wear. I was expecting it to be hot, so I could just wear skirts, but it's supposed to be in the low 90s with thunderstorms. So... What does that mean? Will it be rainy? Will skirts still work? Mostly I'll be wandering around, and there'll be one semi-fancy dinner. I need to pack light, though - that's the main issue. Any advice would be appreciated!

hi...i live in nyc and whenever they say there will be "scattered thinderstorms"  it is usually in the late afternoon and it lasts for about 15 minutes...i would suggest dressing for very hot and humid weather...  hth!
