STYLETHREAD -- LET'S TALK SHOP!

I thought I had an outfit ready for an event I have tomorrow: plaid Express Editors with a white drapy top. I just happened to see the pants right next to a torquoise-ish top I bought at Express the other day (someone else posted a thread about the top in a plum/purple color, too...) The same color torquoise is in the plaid in the pants, so I think that would be cute, but (here's my dillema) is plaid and sequins in the same outfit too much?? I can't decide.

Here's the outfit I planned on wearing (I swear it looks SO much better IRL! It might be the way I'm standing, but it looks more chic and less sloppy)

The white top is the same as this one, without the sequins along the top. Am I crazy to think the sequined top might work with the plaid pants?? Help please, and thank you!
