Any Non-Shoppers This Weekend?
Permalink Closed

I don't really deserve to be posting this since I already shopped this week (see Weekend Shopping).

I hope you ladies have been doing better than me!

-----------------------------

Update:

I spent, but I didn't go wild. I bought some things (a pair of cord gauchos from F21, a deep v sweater from H&M, two belts) for fall but then immediately entered them into my Excel spreadsheet of fall purchases which has been keeping my buying in line.

I also bought a cheap-o dress from H&M on Friday because it was ridiculously hot and I didn't bring a change of clothes to work and made inpromptu plans. Not really an excuse but I should be better this week/weekend. I am going camping on Friday! Whee! First time in ages!

Well, I posted in another thread that all I brought mid-week was two MUCH NEEDED new bras, and that was it, BUT! It just happens to be (SALES)TAX FREE weekend here in Texas, so I'm ALMOST tempted to do a LITTLE shopping myself, and post later on this weekend, but I'll try to be STRONG, been doing good since June 26th! LOL

I'm still here and going strong! I have the worst urge to go shopping but there's nothing that I really want right now so I should be OK. It's way too hot to think about fall stuff and I have enough stuff for summer anyway. This whole ban thing got so much easier after the first 2 weeks...maybe it really is an addiction.

It's getting a lot easier. I've basically been staying out of the mall and it's really been helping. I still love shopping, but I can't get that excited about fall when my color palette is more fallish to begin with and it's too warm right now to wear sweaters and boots and other such things. Plus I joined Equinox and since BF and I plan on being a lot more active than we used to be, I will inevitably lose at least 1-2 dress sizes (and then I'm ebaying off my wardrobe...hehehe). I REALLY don't want to buy clothes that I'll only enjoy for a few months. So it makes loads of sense to stay on this ban.

MY spending tally this week was.

  • Bus fare ($9...gotta love broken machines so you don't pay for the bus )

  • Salsa dancing ($5)

  • Lunch with friend at Wahoo's Fish Taco ($7)

  • Breakfast with another friend...matzo ball soup and coffee ($8)

I had a miserable week and if I wasn't on the ban I probably would've bought something expensive that I couldn't afford or something.

i broke my ban....it was great while it lasted. one thing that it has taught me was t o be a lot more picky with my purchases. i rethink items i buy now. that said, i broke it this week by buying a pair of black pumps and brown moc/loafers from kenneth cole. hopefully i will not need any more fall shoes, except for a pair of fabulous boots that I have yet to find. BUT goodluck to you ladies who are still on the ban!!! you can dooooo it!

I officially ended my ban yesterday.I got a couple of things from Anthro- I will post in the wkd shopping thread.I will be going to the MET in NYC in the morning and I've already made a list of the few things I want from the Museum shop.I also have F&F coupons to both Banana and Gap.I will be trying to get some things on my fall wardrobe list.I'm off to cleaning out my closet and seeing exactly what I need to get rid of, and what will be put on ebay (this will soften my blow to checking account).I've done this like 2x but I'm still finding crap I have absolutely NO use for and things that have tags and were very rarely used that others may find pleasure in getting a good deal.

I will still check in with you ladies because I found that it helps to control my impulse buying, as this was desperately hurting my wallet.

Lunch with friend at Wahoo's Fish Taco ($7) .

when i was in a freshman in college and we were reduced to eating dorm food 24/7 my friends and i used to daydream about the resturants at home that we will hit up AS SOON AS we got home.  well my two friends from newport beach/laguna would always talk about Wahoo's.  i had never had a fish taco, but have since ordered them whenever i see them on the menu...and while they have been good at the restuarants, i still dream about what i am missing at Wahoo's!!!   and i've never been there to even crave it!!!!

if i make it to So. Cal. anytime soon, i will be definitely be hitting up Wahoo's!!!

no shopping for me this weekend. I'm going home so it won't be a temptation. Oh and there's the fact that I'm flat broke. That reduces temptation, too.

But there will be some massive grocery shopping done this weekend - yay me!

My non-shopping ban ended yesterday, Aug. 6th, but I'm back on it as of tomorrow.

I am now on a ban until October 8th.  The ban is against buying clothes, bags, and shoes.  I had a previous ban against buying fall clothes until October, but now that it is really too late to buy summer clothes, I am on a total ban until October 8th!

ugh, I caved. But in a good way- I didn't spend a ton and I only bought things that are on my list for fall and that I really do need:

  • a pair of wool pinstriped cropped pants- can wear now and when it's cooler (target- $20)

  • a pair of corduroys- so comfortable for bumming around in (Target $25)

  • a deep purple cami- good alone now or for fall layering )Target $12)

  • a really soft v-neck sweater in black- surprisingly, I don't have anything even remotely similar and I really need shirts (French Connection @ Marshalls $35)

  • the red seychelles wedges I have been obsessed with for the past month. (ok, these were expensive, but I will practically live in them this fall.)

I went unofficially back on my ban - I did spend a total of $5 on clothes at garage sales (2 Hot Topic tees, a great dk gray AE cardigan, a vintage circle skirt). I know that may sound gross, but I only buy stuff in great shape & at those prices it is so hard to pass up!!!

Other than that, I did resist the Texas tax free weekend - I opted to not fight the crowd for an $8 savings on $100 - the things I wanted were from Old Navy - can you say back to school hell????

I dont think garage sales, thrift shopping, etc should count as going against the ban!! Only new stuff !!

AGREE!! Of course I agree with any theory that let's me get my shop fix for cheap - I did give myself a $20 a week allowance when I was on the ban so I wouldn't go entirely crazy, so technically I didn't go off of it. I must admit to having those knock off Frye's from Payless in my shopping cart online, so we'll see what happens.
