I got my issue of Parents yesterday. They had cute outfits for kids in their 'preparing your 5 yr old to begin school' article.
I know there's a couple mom's here & aunts/sisters was wondering if you dress your child/niece/nephew/bro/sis as stylish as you do. Although my cutie is only 1, I plan on dressing her nice when she goes to school. Right now she just runs around in a onesie & a bib They grow out of their clothes so fast, its hard to invest on expensive pieces. I love shopping for a "Look for Less" & would love to do that when I start shopping for my cutie.
Since I have started a binder of adult outfits, I thought it would be a good idea to start one for child outfits. Lets post our favorite fall outfits for kids.
My nieces are 6 & 3 and I LOVE to get them "big girl" outfits - my sister hates it, which makes it that much more fun!!!
and karina, those little girl things are so cute - how i wish i had a little girl baby to buy for....(well, someone else's. I like the idea of providing sporadic clothing, but not education!)

do your kids really let you dress them? My 3 little sisters never let anyone pick out their clothes. We bought one of my sisters the cutest little hats and jackets, but she would never keep them on. My other sister still refuses to wear anything but sweatpants & gym shorts (she's 13). How do you teach your kids to wear the clothes you pick out?

I guess it depends on the kid. When I was a child, I wanted to wear dresses every day and I loved hats, purses and jewelry. I am dressed up in just about every picture of me from my childhood. I used to fight with my mom because I wanted to wear my Easter dress (or any other ridiculously "too dressy" dress) to school or to the park. I didn't like jeans or anything that made me look "like a boy". Looking back, I think other children must have thought I was very strange.
As for teaching your kids to wear the clothes you pick out, I don't think that can totally be done. It's probably a good deal to give them some choice when shopping for clothes when they are old enough. Some kids don't care, but some have specific tastes from very young.
Anthro has some really cute baby things. I looked on their site and they don't have much, but in the store they do. I'm not sure what their obsession with aprons on the website is. Do children wear a lot of aprons nowadays?

My mom always let me wear what I wanted. She would buy me clothes sometimes but I always got to choose what I wanted to wear on any given day. I am so glad she did this (even though now I look at pictures where I am dressed in a really weird outfit ). I think it's easier if the kid is stubborn to just let them wear what they want.

Since my son is in daycare (feels like all the time) I'm not getting much *new* stuff...he'll be rocking out the thrift store finds this fall. I usually get him one or two special-day (church, party) outfits, but I haven't picked anything out yet.
I do love him in colored cords and nubby/fuzzy sweaters...he looks like a little man then!

I was like this, too! In fact, I didn't even own a pair of jeans until I was 11 years old! I hated them. I loved my frou frou dresses with my patent leather mary janes and little lace ankle socks. And of course, I always had jewelry and a matching purse!
