Earlier I posted a question about outfits for my yellow skirt and several of you responded.  From your suggestions, this is what I have come up with.  I am really wanting those blue shoes from Nordstrom so I thought I could work them in.

Have I got too much of a good thing going on here?

i voted, "i don't love it".

i've been hesitant to reply to your posts about your yellow skirt in the past mainly because i felt like you were looking for an edgy color combination and i couldn't come up with one for you. now that i've seen this skirt repeatedly and some of the outfits that you are trying to put together i feel like i'm ready to put my 2 cents in.

i think that the skirt needs to be the piece of the outfit that "speaks". although it's a simple, classic shape it's a color you don't see everyday and a color that really grabs attention. have you considered pairing it with a simple ivory top... maybe even a tee made out of a drapey material with a loose, drapey neckline and some simple but sexy brown heels, maybe with some brown jewelry? i know it's a plain-jane recommendation compared to the suggestions in the other "outfit ideas" post, but if this skirt were hanging in my closet that's the direction i would personally try.

i guess i was thinking something a little more casual and less fussy on top, a style like this, but in a soft shade of off-white or ivory that would compliment the color of the skirt. (obvioulsly not in white as it's shown here)

the top you posted might be more "you" though... this one that i posted is certainly more "me"... especially paired with a skirt.

I agree that it somehow takes away the fun of that it is a yellow skirt and sometimes what we call boring can be very chic. I guess where I am coming from is that lately I have been trying too hard and have wound up regretting it, so stick to your true style and let the skirt shine! I love hotcocoa suggestions!

I replied that I don't love it.  The problem I'm having is the shoes.  I would do some brown pumps, that way the pop of color is the skirt and the cami peeking out from the blazer.  I also really like hotcocoa's suggestion, very classic, chic and stylish!  And that would give you two outfits for that yellow skirt without breaking the bank

Unfortunately, I dont LOVE the skirt in general and therefore it is impossible for me to imagine myself wearing it, or the perfect outfit for it. That said, I dont think it is all that versitile and agree that it needs a very casual, very plain top.
