ER visit

So I spent the night in the ER last night because I've been having really sharp pain in my lower left hand side of my abdomen.  Earlier this year I had an ultrasound done and I was told that I had a small cyst on my left ovary and not to worry about it unless it started to hurt or it began growing.  The ER doctor did a pelvic and checked the urine sample and said that it was probably the cyst that became inflamed. He told me to do a follow up appt. with the gyno and to take some advil, and apply heat.  I'm on my fourth day of my period, and I've had this pain since yesterday at around 6pm. Has anyone else had this before?

i had a ruptured ovarian cyst two years ago.  it was the most HORRIFIC PAIN on my lower abdominal side. there's no surgery or anything when you rupture a cyst, just pain.  eventually it should go away.  i hope that helps, i literally feel your pain, and wouldn't wish it on anyone.  stay in contact with your doctor if the pain does not go away.

I had a pain in my lower abdominal area almost two months ago.  I never felt a pain there before.  It was weird, and sometimes painful just to move the slightest.  I thought maybe it was my appendix.  On the third day I was going to go to the emergency room, but it went away and never came back.

Oh Rosie!! You poor thing, I know how much this hurts.

I had this happen, Dec. 1998. I can remember exactly when it happened because it was like no other pain in my life. I literally couldn't sit - standing made it feel better, though *better* is a relative term. This happened with no warning - I remember being jolted awake very early in the a.m. with horrendous pain.

The ER *thought* a cyst had ruptured, they gave me Demerol at the hospital - that's the only time it stopped hurting - and an Rx for Vicodin. When I saw my primary doc, she referred me to a specialist and he suggested I had endomitriosis (sp). Though I never had quite that level of pain again after the initial incident, we tried treating it with b/c for a year (continuous b/c) and then I had surgery (laparoscopy) for the endo. That was Nov. 1999 and I haven't had trouble since.
