Help with halter dress...
Permalink Closed

Hi Ladies, I just purchased a beautiful halter dress for a wedding I have in a few weeks.  I had been looking for a dress, with no success, for a while, so when I saw this dress I was so happy to find something I liked I bought it without a second thought.  Here's the issue, the dress is a little more revealing than what I usually wear (which is fine because sometimes I think I'm a little too conservative).  The halter "plunges" very low which means I can't wear a bra or at least I can't wear a conventional bra.  I'm a small B cup so support really isn't the issue it's more a shape issue.  I don't love the way I look (shape wise) without a bra so I would really like to wear something.  Does anyone have any suggestions?  I was looking at the "NuBra" which I guess is an adhesive bra.  I was also looking at the "stick on bras" from VS.  Has anyone had any experience with either of these products or has anyone found a bra that works with a plunging halter?  TIA.

flknight -

i work at VS and you have no idea how much time i spend trying to find the right type of bra to go under dresses and tops!!

here are some suggestions  -

the very sexy plunge strapless is the best bra for a low cut top or dress.  it can be made into a halter, but if your dress also has a very low back this will not work.

the very sexy convertable bra is great if you have a low-back halter top or dress, but it doesn't plunge quite as far as the plunge bra does.  you will probably just have to go in and try it on.

i have the generic nu-bra (the natural bra) and i personally dont like it that much.  it doesn't give me the natural shape that bras do, and if your shirt goes pretty low, you can see the clear clasp in the middle.  but i have never had a problem with it falling off or slipping.  it always stayed on really well but will not give you any lift, if thats what you're looking for.

if your shirt is low back and very very low in the front, the only thing you could do is use the stick-ons to cover the nipple and we also sell these stick-on things that lift from the top.  i have not personally tried these, but have sold them to several girls with tops where nothing else would work.  im not sure if all VS stores sell these but i also found them at lingeriesolutions.com.  you would need to use both stick-on products together, because the "lifts" don't cover the nipple.

Bring It Up Breast Lifts

sorry this is such a long answer, but i just wanted you to know all of your options and hopefully you will find something that works for you!!

jennifer17 - thank you so much! I really appreciate your response.  It's a great help.  I was actually looking at the plunge bra on the VS website but I couldn't tell from the picture if it would work.  I think it might becasue the back of the dress is not that low (especially if I fill out the front a little more with a bra ).  I think I'll stop at VS and see what I can find.  Thanks again!

i don't know if you already tried this, but VS has a plunge strapless that works with almost any dress. It's on backorder in a lot of stores, but if you find one, it might work. - oh yeah, I didn't see that the other posters already had you covered with the VS bra - hope it works!
