Is There A Doctor In The House?

I have a problem that I'm a little embarrassed about because it's regarding my breath...

For the past week or so I have had a metal taste in my mouth that is overpowering and making me create a lot of saliva. It is the strangest feeling/taste and I have never had such a problem before. In addition to that, I have "sick breath" but have no symptoms of a cold or anything.

Has anyone else experienced a strong metal taste in their mouth? What could be causing this?

not a doc, but sometimes that metal taste happens when you are taking antibiotics.

as for the breath, this is my situation and might be like yours....due to the ozone and the 100 degree high heat, the air quality in my area has been horrible lately and is affecting my allergies.  I even though I take low dose antihistamines and decongestant every day, I have drainage in my throat from minor allergies and I get a little runny nose if I exert myself.

you could just have drainage (like post nasal drip) and not even notice it, so you may not have symptoms of being sick.  it could be due to the a/c or even a fan circulating at night.  try taking a decongestant and see if it gets better.

p.s. i get really bad post nasal drip, and it recently started again.

Thanks girls! I'll see if the decongestant helps!

also...check your tongue & make sure it's not white. I had a friend who used to get thrush (yeast infections in the mouth) all the time.

My tongue has been white on occasion. What do they do for that sort of thing? I've never heard of it.

Yahoo Health says they give you antifungal lozenges. If it is moderate to severe, they treat it with oral antifungal meds.  It's not a big deal, but apparently it can cause a throat infection if left untreated.

I had never heard of it either, until I met my friend. I know a couple of other people who have gotten it once or twice, though.

Here's a link to more symptoms, etc.: http://health.yahoo.com/ency/healthwise/hw139068
