I need some basic L/S tees
Permalink Closed

i need some basic long sleeve tees, but i don't want to spend a lot for them since they will be worn around the house, under scrubs, and running errands.

  • i don't like sweet tees, or c&c because they are sheer

  • victoria secret?  sizing?  too cheaper even for what i need them for???

  • j.crew?

  • michael stars sizing?? one size?? (anyone have michael stars tees?)

  • any other suggestions would be great too!

thanks so much.

I second JCrew.  I have some that are about five years old and they've held up really well.

Old Navy usually has the ones with a little stretch in them - not sure if they are out yet though.

thanks for the suggestions.  i will have to check out j.crew and the other stores tomorrow.  i went to American Apparel today MAJOR .

I thought that that would be the perfect store for my needs and since one just opened up i thought i would check it out, and $30 + for a basic tee is fine (if it fits great and it's good quality), but i thought the quality of the tees were AWFUL!!!  i can't think what it's comparable to, but worse than Gap's cheaper tees come to mind.

To give the store credit, some items looked ok, like the bathing suits and sweatshirts seemed ok (didn't look closely, i had ten minutes to spare and wanted to try on two tees for fit).  The tees were what was really disappointing for me.  The fits were ok, and they had every style imaginable, but I felt like the quality was just horrible for the price.

just wondering if anyone else had opinions on the store?  i'm really interested to hear thoughts.

I actually really like AA tees. I think the basic $15 tees (2102 style) are worth the price, especially since I have a short torso and these are more accomodating than most on the market, especially in an era where everyone wants their t-shirts ot be longer and longer. They shrink in length, but I've been very happy with the AA tees I own...they don't fade and look really good on. Plus they're nice and soft. Since you want long sleeve ones, the 2307 ($20) and 4307 ($21) shirts are your best bet.

I have tried on some of their other tees and they can be craptastic for the price. I don't like their sheer jersey at all...it's just too sheer and they charge more than the regular tees. Why...I still don't know.

An AA store just opened up in my nieghborhood so I'll probably check it out. My only problem with them is that everywhere I turn they're opening a new store in the weirdest places...they're going to open one on Hollywood Blvd. five blocks away from one of their flagship stores...WTF?

Also, I have a ton of long sleeve tops from Nordie's BP section that have worn really well. I'd also try to find cheap Juicy at Loehmanns or something...it's an excuse to get more, right?

Definintly check out Jcrew.  They have a HUGE selection of tees, good prices too.  All sorts of colors and cuts.  Plus they aren't sheer (I do not like sheer tees either).

If you can get Michael Stars tees for a good price, they are fabulous.  Pretty pricey at the normal price of around $40 though.  But they fit great, form fitting and sexy, comfortable, don't stretch out much.  They ARE one size, but it fits my size S body perfectly: not skin tight but still quite fitted.  I love them...

thanks.  i really WANTED to like the store!!!  i was so annoyed because i feel like i have heard good things about AA.  all the ones i tried on were $30 (l/s only and only two styles).  i will go back with an open mind again and spend a bit more time.  THANKS!!
