shoes for a custom made dress
Permalink Closed

i am having a dress made for my boyfriend's 30th birthday bash...

it looks very similiar to this dress in both design and coloring...

what type of shoes would you wear with it?  i am at a loss b/c i feel like a champagne/gold shoe would look to matchy...  suggestions?

I can see that dress with black, red, dark green...and so many more shoe colors.  Do you know if you're carrying a bag or not?

no bag....

i just feel that black, red, green would be too stark against this dress.  it is such a gorgeous color that i don't want to detract from the dress with red or black shoes...

these come in bronze... perhaps that would keep everything in the same "family" of colors but ot be stark against the champagne color of the dress...

I would try a two tones darker (or lighter) strappy sandal  in the same family but not metallic/sparkly - like darker taupe, lighter brown,  cream, or even gray. It's hard to see exactly what the dress is like...

I think it would look pretty with either bronze or silver or two/three-tone metallic:

My first choice would be silver.

since champagne is a warmer white with Grecian styling, I'm picturing thin strappy gold heels...

they're calling these "platinum" but they look gold to me...

First off, that dress is gorgeous, and please post pics of you in it when you get some!

And concerning the shoes, I would say bronze would be a good choice. Are there any pics of Nicole Richie's shoes?

a better description of the dress would be....

halter top with deep V plunging neckline, wide waistband and flowy skirt that is about knee length- does that help???  its a gold shantung material with a champagne gold sheer over top...  super cute!

unfortunately- nicole's dress never shows a top to toe pic of her, so i couldn't get ideas from her... but i was thinking in the gold to bronze category and in strappy sandals... looks like i was on the right path!  i am going to look at nordie's tomorrow since the anniversary sale is about to end but if i don't find anything there i'll look elsewhere...

i will definitely post pics after the event- i am super excited about my dress- since i am not supposed to be shopping this month and in august, my BF said "how about your mom making you a dress since you wouldn't technically be buying it?"  (how sweet my enabler BF is!) but what he didn't realize is that i would need new shoes!!!!
