I'm new to this, but it looks like I have found the place to solve all my shopping/clothing dilemmas!
I just read an article about Earnest Sewn Jeans...which made them sound like the perfect jean. However, I haven't seen them in any stores around here, so I wanted to ask if anyone here owns them and how they fit?
you'll hear the term "perfect jeans" in reference to every brand. but u gotta keep in mind what's perfect for one person may be a disaster for you. u just gotta try everything on til u find ur match made in heaven. as for finding them... where exactly are you? if u have nordstrom, nieman marcus, saks 5th ave, bloomingdales, etc. any of those place shold have them... i know i've seen them around but i live in LA so u can't swing a cat w/o finding designer jeans!
Thanks! I'm in LA too but I work pretty crazy hours, so my shopping forays are a bit limited of late. I'll just have to drag myself to the beverly center this weekend to check them out.
IME Earnest Sewn jeans are great if you are taller and not too curvy. They have pretty long inseams (like 34") but what always bugs me is that they have the whiskering at the back of the knee. On my 5' 3" ish self...that whiskering hits at midcalf.
Since you're in LA you may want to wait for a Sun Walters sample sale because they'll have tons of Earnest Sewn jeans for half price (maybe $90-$100)

I'm tall and not curvy, but I didn't like them on me, either. They fit a lot like PD&C, which I don't really like on me (with the exception of one pair that I wear to work). I think they're sort of butt-minimizing. So maybe they work on tall, very thin people blessed with butts. LOL. The denim is SO soft, though.

I was able to try the Earnest jeans on and was disappointed. As a tall and modestly hourglass person, I was expecting them to be cute. They gave me old lady butt...they are not curved enough in the back to accommodate a butt that sticks out...instead they flattened me out. I found the Seven Miller trouser gave a much better rear view, as did the bianca denim trouser by Joe's.
FYI if you live in LA...pickett fences in Larchmont is having an awesome sale with lots of Milly and DVF.
maybe it's my body type but they seem to fit me really well, actually. i have little to no butt, but these jeans actually make it seem like i have one! the only problem i have is that even the bootcut has a very narrow leg opening, but i like the fact that they're higher rise in the back. i got mine at filene's basement for $70 back in feb or something
but of course, you should try them on IRL. like crystal said, other people's dream jeans fit like crap on others (eg. true religion joeys are a godsend to a lot of people, but they just look ridiculous on me)
