I'm wearing a sequinned cardi today. Since I accidentally got some makeup on it I need to wash the cardi before wearing again. But I don't know whether to hand-wash or dry clean with my usual people or dry clean with special people.
The cardi is make of plush cashmere and there are sequins literally all over the sweater. It's a vintage find that dates to the 1950s.
I don't think dryel removes stains does it?? It only gets rid of smell mostly. At the dry cleaners they usually spot clean first, running it through the dry cleaning machine doesn't remove spots. I wouldn't risk handwashing cashmere and sequins. It sounds delicate. So I would say take it to a professional...its worth it. I tried to handwash a favorite blouse once and ruined it. I was so sad.
i would say either hand wash very carefully or take it to the fancy schmancy place. i've had regular dry cleaners f**k up my clothes b/f and it pissed me off to no end.
I have a cami that is also cashmere and sequins. The tag says "spot clean only". I only wore it once so have not cleaned it yet, but if I ever wear it again and it gets dirty, I would just bring it to my regular dry cleaner and make sure to point out the tag to them. I'm sure they would read the tag themselves, but when I have something extra delicate, I like to call out that particular item to them. The owner of the store will usually take notes which go to the person who cleans it. My regular dry cleaner might qualify as a fancy-shmancy place though. I've been burned too many times by crappy but cheap dry cleaners.
