I love looking at the clothing on anthropologie.com, but it is so pricey. It seems lately like they have gotten more expensive. Is there another website (or store) that sells anthro-like clothing for cheaper?
I think freepeople.com and urbanoutfitters.com have similar stuff...but more geared towards younger people. Still you might find a few things that would work. Also try bodenusa.com.
I find anthro knockoffs at forever21 all the time. I only buy the things from Anthro that I know i can't find elsewear or if it is really good quality/fit.
anthro makes me really angry when i go in there! (which i did just that this morning)
i find the stuff to be absolutely gorgeous, but overpriced. i tried on a few sale items today, but nothing spectacular, and i ended up being so annoyed that i just drove instead to my favorite thrift and had a nice fling there.

That is how I feel. For instance, this sweater is beautiful but terribly overpriced. It is not even cashmere and is $118!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I just received that sweater in the supposed crimson color. It is NOT crimson but rather raspberry and the flowers look nothing like the picture. The fabric is thin and i'am thoroughly pissed off. I do plan on filing a complaint on their customer service site. To me it is false advertising.

Thank you so much for that review!!! I was strongly considering saving my pennies for that sweater and now I won't. Whew. Sometimes I think about banning myself from looking at the anthro site, but I can't seem to tear myself away.
I saw that sweater in person and I loved it! I haven't tried it on yet though. It is thin, but really soft and thats why I liked it. I think the best bet with anthro is to go to the store. They have a ruffle front green/olive cardigan that is really thick and plain that I want ($118 or $128) and a lace sleeveless blouse there ($98), neither is online. I also like the sweater posted (in blue), the one that cuts away- really cropped- and is cranberry, and a pair of their plain pants.

I agree. I find knockoffs all the time at Forever21, Wet Seal and Charlotte Russe. Also, I definitely recommend Free People, as someone else mentioned.
Free People isn't really cheap, either, but I do love their stuff. They have a few absolutely adorable cardigans for around $90 for fall that I'm in love with.
I really like that sweater too. I wanted it in "Crimson" until I saw it in store and it is indeed PINK. The sapphire was gorgeous though, a little brighter than the picture. They had it paired with this skirt:
Which is MOST gorgeous in person ($158). It has little ruffles in the back. The prices kill me too, but I am considering this as my winter "investment outfit". . .
I know that doesn't help w/ your question. . . I was in NY & co the other day and they had some lace tops that were clearly knockoffs of the C.C. Outlaw top from Anthro a lot of us have. They were pretty cute and they had some other cute stuff for fall, their stuff just fits me weird.

I agree about Forever 21. There are some things I love, love, LOVE at anthro, and I do buy them if I can't find anything similar. I hate spending money there, because a) the salesgirls at my anthro are bitches; and b) they never have codes online. I am just not crazy about their CS.

i think a lot of the teen oriented mall stores have stuff that is very similar to antrho. urban's is your best bet since it's the same company but the prices are more budget friendly. but stores like rave, f21, charlotte russe, etc. all have tons of anthro-esque stuff you just have to look a bit. also i've noticed that my local macy's carries some similar style stuff in their inc dept. and also some of the other store brands (i think one is shine) they're usually mixed in with the contemporary sportswear (the section that's not jr's), and though it's more than f21, the quality tends to be better and you can get great deals from macys.
I was wondering how Anthropologie quality is. I don't have a store nearby so I can't check it out before I buy. I have come close to buying some items, but it seems spendy like a designer item. For the price they have, I am assuming it's top notch. I'd rather spend more money for stuff that will last than say go to forever 21 and it only last a season.
