White summer skirt
Permalink Closed

I have a long white smock topped summer skirt (two thin layers of material).  It's cute, it's comfy...but you can see my legs through it.  My question is do i need to put a slip under it (ruins the comfort factor) or is it totally fine.  It's not like I'm wearing it to work.  I suppose I don't really care but does it look tacky?  Thoughts?

It's hard to say without seeing it in person. I mean, some things are only see-through if you have a bright light behind you but some are always see through. When in doubt I wear a slip...for me that never ruins the comfort factor, a lot of times half slips are silkier and nicer against my skin than the skirt itself!

I'm usually all for slips...I guess my thought is more about one less layer on a hot summer day. Maybe I should just wear it and if I get any odd stares, that anwers my question :0)

I was at a restaurant last summer and noticed a girl flirting up a storm with two guys while standing outside the front window. She was in what would have been a really cute summer dress. Only thing is that you could see the entire outline of her lower half (not just her legs.) I'm guessing it was not the look she was going for.

I'd wear a slip. The skirt could revel more than you'd think.

See...that's exactly what I don't want to happen! I guess I will suck it up and throw on a slip rather than being that girl... Thanks Ladies

I've definitely started checking the sheerness of my skirts/dresses since then. I wish more things came lined. It would make it so much easier.

Nude boyshorts, long tops?

You can probably have a lining sewn in for relatively cheap.

I thought about sewing another lighter layer in...I just wasn't sure how that would work with the smocking along the top.
