I just noticed that the seller of some boots I won Friday states that they will be shipped via media mail??? I just sold a bunch of magazines & couldn't ship via media mail because they didn't fit the requirements - surely boots sent this way is a no-no? I am now freaking out - I can't see how they can do this in a way that I will ever get them - my UPS lady told me that the post office does often open media mail packages to verify the items inside - ugh. What to do now? I didn't even notice that when I was bidding - who would have thought that media mail was even an option when buying boots? I have that sick feeling that I will never get these...

I suppose it's possible that the person had been doing several listings and just didn't change his shipping info on the boots' auction.  I know when I'm doing multiple listings, I just hit the "sell similar item" button in order to avoid re-entering info.  I just change the categories, etc.


You should email him to ask for sure, because in my experience w/ media mail, it takes a helluva long time!!!!

The seller is an idiot to send boots media mail.  Media mail is VERY strict and they DO open it.  I actually sent a book via media mail a few months ago and it was sent back to me for extra postage because I included a print-out of the invoice in the package.  Can you imagine?  It was sent back because there was a piece of paper included with the book and according to media mail, you can only put the book (or CD or video) in the package.  I got away with doing that a few times before (not really "got away with" because I didn't even know that was a rule) and was totally shocked when it was sent back to me, opened and requesting more postage.  So...I would say shipping boots media mail is a HUGE no-no.  Hopefully, she just picked media mail by mistake and is actually sending them a normal way.  I would give her the benefit of the doubt and wait a week or so.

I contacted her & thank GOODNESS, missmee is right - she just didn't change her listing. But thanks Andrea for answering that - i thought they were really strict but DANG that's serious. I was about to have a heart attack - even though it's 100 degrees - I WANT MY BOOTS!

She could probably get away with mailing some things media mail but I don't think boots will pass through.  I've never had anything I've mailed or received through media mail opened before it got to myself or the other person.  That is strange.  I always prepackage and address my stuff before I show up at the post office.
