thanks for the help thus far girls... i agree, i don't want "boy shorts" or anything nearly as short as what amerie is wearing

, i just used that pic as an example of a cute "shorts outfit". the ones nicole richie wears are a little too casual for what i'm thinking. there's pics of jessica simpson, ashanti, and ciara in sexy shorts outfits, but i didn't want to post them cuz one pic was big enough. i may need to just hit the mall & see what's out there, but i don't have much time which is why i was hoping for an overview of what's available at the moment & what i should be looking for (i.e. i'm thinking a longish top cuz i don't want to show too much skin... but i want something dressy that doesn't look weird w/ shorts

if you check the features, nylabelle & i both did some outfits using shorts. i did an outfit with these jcrew shorts which are $36

which i like b/c they're short but not too short (i used a khaki pair). paired with the right pieces they could look really cute. here's some other ideas
