Paint on highlights?
Permalink Closed

I wanted to put some fake highlights into my hair for this rockstar themed party.  I have dark, dark brown hair and wanted to do some kind of reddish highlights.  I used to have a product from Lancome that looked like a mascara that you could just put highlights in for the night and wash them out.  I don't think they make it anymore though.  Does anyone know of a product like this?  I don't want to do anything cheesy like spraypaint my hair pink or green.  I want it to look semi-natural.

I know what you are talking about but I only see it in October around Halloween.  I would say either call some party stores in your area because they may have some in the costume area or go with some colored mascara.  I don't think mascara will do anything to your hair.

I googled Hair Mascara and apparently Aveda makes or at least made one so you could call around to both Aveda and Aveda Concept salons.

Dior makes one called Mascara Flash for hair. Its not on the sephora site.

I know that Salon Selectives makes a "red" hair mascara too - the only reason I know is that I was searching for a colored mousse by the same company for my sister - so you can look on ebay if nothing else - looks likes it's going for MAYBE $4. I searched "salon selectives" & a bunch came up so you can at least see what it looks like & then maybe find it at walmart?

lsubatgirl, I really want to stay away from anything Halloween-y anyway.  I just wanted to do some cool red highlights without having them there forever.  Like a color I might get done in the salon if I wanted to put any chemicals in my hair.

Thanks girls for the recommendations of Aveda, Dior, and Salon Selectives.  I will see if I can find someplace that sells one of these.
