So we hired a new girl at work to help me out with some stuff.  (I'm a secretary and work in a very, very laid back office.  We smoke and cuss and gamble and I'm currently circulating a petition to keep alcohol in the fridge.  Haha jk.  Sort of.)  She's real nice and cutesy and I'd like to get her a small welcome gift.  All I know about her is that she used to be a fashion merchandising major, she has nice shoes, and she wears too much Cool Water perfume.  Any suggestions?  TIA!

define a "small" price range - that will give us something to start with.

Your quote has me cracking up, too, btw. between that, this post about your job & your drawings, I agree with whoever said they wanted to be your friend!!!

Haha Aww I lurrrve yall too!  BFF all around!

Um... small.... like, less than $20.  I keep thinking picture frame or candle, but I'd like to find something a bit more unique and unexpected.

I wouldn't do this, really. The only kinds of gifts that would be appropriate for a new employee would be things with the company logo, or food type items (or a mug that she could use at work).

Maybe take her out to lunch or dessert or coffee?

I wouldn't expect a gift if I was a new person, but I know it would be really nice if my new co-workers asked me to lunch or something like that.

I think it's really sweet to get something for the new girl. I think it's just really hard to transition to a new job & if someone gave me a little gift, I'd remember their thoughtfulness forever! I like the previous suggestions, but I will add maybe some pretty stationary or notepads - I never have enough of these & place like Steinmart / Ross always have stationary cheap - and CVS or Walgreens always have little hardcovered note pads - like purse size for $1 or so. I pick these up constantly!
