Should I go there? Fake bags
Permalink Closed

Okay, I have never ever ever liked fakes. But as probably everyone here can understand, a $2,000+ bag is not in my budget. I recently made some spending money on Ebay and have been pretty successful on my ban. I wonder should I go there?... and buy a fake version of the Chloe Silverado bag?

I have heard alot of good things about one seller on iOffer. Someone on another forum posted that they owned one real and three fake Balenciagas and said that they couldn't tell the difference. Now, I am just a little cautious because I'm in NYC where the real things are everywhere (as are the fakes).

Should I go for it?

BTW the fakes are like 175-225 or best offer.

I did when I fell in love with the woven bottega venta i saw on lindsay lohan. I do not have $4,000. If it had been in my price range i probably would have sprung for the real thing. But I saved my $3,950 and saved a cow by buying a pleather version.  I am happy.

I am very torn on them. Part of me feels bad because I feel like the designer is getting ripped off but then my logical side kicks in and reminds me that if they bags were a reasonable price to begin with I would buy the real deal. Regardless though, I always feel very obvious when I carry a fake and even though 95% of the people who see me probably don't even realize it, it makes me very self conscious. If you think it's going to bother you like that, you should probably not get it since you won't carry it as much as you should. 200 is a lot for a fake bag- for not much more at all you could get something real and nice. That being said, if you really love the bag and don't think the fact that it's fake would bother you go for it.

With all the current hub-bub and crackdown on fakes in NYC and Europe, I would be reluctant because I really do think the stigma is only going to grow. Even though it's hard, I say resist the fake!

Honestly, I think you should go for it.  I don't really see what the big deal about imitations is as long as they are not blatant ripoffs with fake logos.  You're probably not going to carry it everyday anyways so if it's just a fun bag you'd wear on occasion, why not?

I've said it before & I'll say it again - I buy bags because I like the look & color. They may be fake leather, they may be knock offs, but i am HARD on a purse. I have found out since being on this board that I have several "fakes" that I didn't even know were fake, I just bought it because "oh that's a cute pink purse" - like that brown target coach knock off? I love that purse & wouldn't have known it was a fake.

I guess since you are in NY maybe it's a bigger deal, but man I just hate to think that I have to spend $500 + on a purse so that other people will think it's ok? I just have issue with that.

I think that is a lot to pay for a fake, even if the quality is good. The point is that you will always know its a fake and maybe not end up using it as much as you think, or you will be constantly paranoid that someone else will be able to tell. I would not go for it.

If you are in love with the real thing and this bag looks just like it I say go for it.  I don't see that big of a deal with fakes if the real things are out of your price range.  With every other company knocking off stuff I don't think owning a fake bag should be a big deal.

BTW I think that is probably a reasonable price for those fakes if they are of high quality.  The really good fakes in new orleans are in the $100s.  With it being a best offer would you consider offering 125 or 150 since its a fake??

I am usually against fakes but my friend also had a fake balenciaga that she got from ioffer and a real one.  I can honestly say that I could hardly tell the difference between the two.  That said I think that depending on the quality of the chloe, you should go for it.

There are knockoffs, and then there are fakes. Knockoffs look like the designer stuff, but have their own labels and whatnots - I think that's fine, because not everybody can afford high end stuff, and there's a long tradition of copying styles. But I wouldn't buy a fake, something that's claiming to be something more expensive.
