on the bottom where your gums end but still more on the inside lip part, its on my left side, its about a size of a zit. am I making any sense? its so hard to explain it. Does anyone know about this? i think its been there for weeks and I just wish I knew it was normal. I dont have health insurance right now

okay, I just looked at it int the mirror and its right below my tooth on the gum and its kind of white

I took my boys for a cleaning at our Dentists office, they happen to be my parents very close friends, we've known each other for many many years. Anyways, while I was there I asked him about it, he took a Free x-ray for me and said it was nothing to be scared about. I guess some people just get it, its something like an extra bone/tumor. He has one himself and other people get them in different areas of the mouth. It may grow over time and if thats the case they will just cut it off. Just thought I'd share

It sounds like an ulcer. If you put an uncoated aspirin on it, it will probably burn it but it will help it heal. God I sound like my mother!

an ulcer? How did I get that? it not liquidy, its pretty hard when I touch it with my finger...

so how do I put aspirin on it? smash it and put the powder on it? for how long? I think I might throw up with that taste in my mouth though!

My doctor always laughs at my self-diagnosis (which I have to say is right A LOT) so I think this is hysterical. I wonder what he would say if he knew I was internet diagnosing a virtual stranger when I haven't seen the thing in person. LOL

Canker sores

did you recently quit smoking (and as your stylethread doctor, if you smoke I feel a professional responsibility to tell you it's bad for you!!) LOL

If the aspirin is uncoated, I don't think you need to squish it up - yes, tastes bad, but it does work. THe other thing that works is an antacid like rolaids or something like that if you have one.

Regards,
Dr. Laken

Thanks Dr. Laken!

I never smoked cigerretts (sp?), i cant even spell it! so you think its a canker sore? I've never had one before......I'll look into this some more, thanks again!

okay, I did my homework on canker sores and mine does not sound like its one, none of the symptoms are what I've experienced other than a bump.

is it white on the outside and red in the middle part? My husband gets canker sores all the time....usually when he's really stressed out.  They start out as a little bump but then they become more red and painful.  Can't think of what else they would be.  If it starts to hurt like hell there's some stuff called Kanka? (I think) that works pretty well.

I think I had this once.  It might be an ulcer- its not a canker sore I don't think.  It went away when I stopped thinking about it, haha, but I *thought* it was because I burned my mouth and that's how it healed.  I would see online what the cure is for ulcers, but they should go away.  I had mine for a week or two.

I get mouth uclers all the time.  Have you been eating lots of citris or other acidic foods lately?? That is where I get mine from.  They usually last a week of pain and then a week unpainful and then go away.

They make oragel to put on it.  Its a pasty ointment (Over the Counter) and you just dab it on your finger and then dab it on and it helps with the pain/soreness.
