Ok, I have the opposite problem that I would think most people would die to have. I have been on a diet & shopping ban since the first of July. I haven't broken my ban at all, and I've done pretty good on my eating - even if I'm not perfect, i'm definatley doing better than i would be normally.
So last night I was "fussing" that there was this shrug I wanted in the right color for fall, etc & I couldn't get it because of my shopping ban. DH says I love you but listen to me, I DECLARE THE SHOPPING BAN OVER. He says I've been grouchy & I'm fussing about it & I don't spend that much money, so why do i have to be on a ban? And i'm not fat so I don't need to be on a diet. And I know that's sweet, but I do indeed need to be on a diet - I have gained about a good bit of weight in the past 4-5 years & am up to a size 12 & sometimes even a 14 - not acceptable for my own requirements of myself personally (nothing against anyone in these sizes, but you know what I mean) - and I do need to be on a shopping ban. I do shop smart, but I am the type that spends $20 here & there and man that ads up quick.
My mom & best shopping cousin ever are coming to Dallas to shop for the first time since I moved here a year ago, (next week) so I know it isn't realistic to think I won't buy stuff while they are here, but I've saved about $400 since the first of July by not shopping or spending the money from my ebay sales!!! (well, and 2 small returns)
How do I get him to support this? I guess I should just not talk about it - and I didn't realize I had fussed that much about it - yes I mention the things I pass up, but I really am doing that to prove I'm doing good, not to fuss about what I didn't buy....
I don't know what I expect anyone to say, but I had to vent i guess. It's just hard to stick to either diet or ban when the man you live with tells you that it's not necessary.....

WOW - you have a sweet DH (I don't know what that stands for yet, I'm still trying to learn all these acronyms - LOL), but I wish my man was like yours. He is in some ways, he says I look fine the way I am, I don't need to lose any weight, etc., but I think it's about how YOU feel about yourself, what YOU'RE happy with, you know? And shopping? Oh my - I shopped my BUTT off all the time, he would get on me saying I have too many things, I need to buy more things for the house, etc. etc. So, I joined the ban also back on June 26th, and haven't brought any clothes/shoes/jewelry (my weaknesses - LOL) since that date, so I FEEL YOUR PAIN! I had planned to hold out until my b-day month of Sept., but I may give in and break mine next month! LOL BUT! Like you, I KNOW I've saved about $300+ this month alone, that I know could've easily gone on clothes, etc. SO GOOD FOR YOU!! Do what you feel is right, I'm all (now I am) about saving money!!

I think you should just tell him that you realize it's easier on him to tell you to give in to your weaknesses, but you've set goals for yourself and you would be a lot more successful if he'd give you his support while you're trying to accomplish those goals. Or something like that. Basically make him feel guilty. I've always found that guilt goes a long way in relationships!

LOL - i hate to agree, but i do
And yes, ladies DH is husband, most days dear or darling - some days "darn" LOL
I know I'm fussing over something stupid - read over other people's post who really do have legitamate complaints & feel bad - i am just having a darn pity party today. I'm just going to shut my mouth & spend his money damn it!! LOL - not really - we are on a plan to pay off all of our debt - I am the instigator, so i think he knows that I won't go drop $400 on a purse unless we have it "extra" (which we won't until everything is paid!!!!).
