but I didn't take a shower this morning and I feel so yucky. I woke an hour late for work this morning...and HOUR....so I couldn't take a shower. That's not the worst part. I have an interview after work tonite for a job that could technically make or break my career.

I woke up with curly hair, so I decided I'd have to straighten it to look halfway decent. So I did. My naturally curly hair LOVES to curl up and frizz at the slight bit of humidity and it's icky here in NJ. In addition to that, today was my current company's summer BBQ and my hair got hit with a water balloon and the hair is not happy.

So now I'm sitting at my desk, drenched, with frizzy hair, and little stinky from sweating outside/not taking a shower. This is going to put a total damper on this interview that I was SO excited about.

I know I probably don't look/smell as bad as I think, but it just seems so much worse. I know I'll be in the interview constantly worrying what that stray hair is doing.

Ugh...sorry...I had to vent...

funny how one 'off' thing can totally mess with your entire day. for example i am not happy with my outfit today, which has turned into a blah day for me. haha. anyway, hope your interview goes well! i'm sure you will rock it!

I am sure its not as bad as you think, but if it is going to affect your confidence at the interview then maybe go home during lunch??

I can't help but giggle at this. Here's what you do though - go to the drug store before the interview, get you some wet wipes & deoderant, do what we here in the south call a "spit" bath & apply new deoderant and /or perfume - touch up your make up - you should be pretty much back to good again. Can you pull your hair back? I'm not quite sure what to say about that.

And I'm sure it's not as bad as you think but I know what you mean...

I wish I could but we all had to attend the company BBQ today during lunch and I was volunteered to partake in some events so it would look odd if I didn't show.

Oh no, that suuuuuuuuuuuuuucks!  I hate stuff like that because although I'm sure it isn't as bad as you think it is, it is a total self esteem buster.  Do you have a hand dryer in your bathroom at work?  If so, you could probably do a little damage control with your hair with that and a brush.  I agree with laken1...if you can get to a drugstore, get some deodorant and wet wipes and you'll be good to go.

Just try to keep your self confidence up and I'm sure you'll rock the interview.  Good luck and let us know how it goes!

We don't have a hand dryer, but I WAS smart enough to bring my flat iron and makeup in...so at least I have that going for me. I don't have time to go the store...I have 15 minutes to get from point A to Point B (they're about 2 miles apart and no stores in between). I do have some chocolate scented lotion though....

I am from the south and I know what you mean by a "spit" bath.

Oh that sucks, but I'm sure it's not as bad as you think.  A similar thing happened to me once when I had an interview:

I woke up on time, but discovered that my then-bf (who had spent the night at my house) had accidentally taken my toothpaste home with him.  I didn't have an extra tube, so I decided to stop on my way to the interview to get some.  That would have worked if there hadn't been a huge traffic jam and a 45 minute drive (from my house into Center City Philly) took me almost two hours. And even though, I had left well in advance, I still only got into the city 15 minutes before my interview was supposed to start.  But then, I couldn't find parking and literally had to park 12 blocks away. I thought I would be able to hail a cab to get there, but I couldn't find one and had to walk those 12 blocks. It was summer time and it was hot and humid.  By the time I got to the interview, I was a sweaty, nasty mess (and I hadn't brushed my teeth, ew!).

To make matters worse, the person who was supposed to interview was really, really rude to me and told me that I 'was late' and my interview was supposed to be at 10am (even though I had the e-mail with me confirming a 10:30 interview.   And I got there at 10:30 on the dot (but I would have liked to be there at 10:15).  But anyway, long story short (too late, right?), I felt like crap b/c I had rushed around, the people at the interview were very conscending, making catty comments about my having worked in retail and I couldn't wait to get out of there.

But anyway, good luck on your interview today! I'm sure you'll be great.

I realized that I have a can of spray deodorant in my desk drawer for those "just in case times". So I brought the deodorant, some makeup, and a hair tie to the bathroom to revamp.

I fixed up the makeup and then took the hair out of the half up/half down mess it was in and put it in a low ponytail with a side part. I have pretty short hair so I put the right side of the hair (the wider of the part into a little bobbypin to hold it back and it looks ten times better. Now at least I look presentable enough to be confident!
