I have noticed a couple of recent posts asking about fall runway trends, and I thought I would post a link to an article I wrote waaaaay back in March. I spent a lot of time reviewing the fall '05 collections to write this article, and it's content is very relvant as we are all thinking about fall shopping... The article is here: http://www.stylethread.com/columns/columns_march/infocus_mar.html
Please feel free to post your takes on what's going to be hot for fall too!
p.s. thankfully my teal bulga is on it's way and I bought my Frye harness boots last winter

Thanks, Detroit! As one of the "fall fashion" posters, I appreciate your concise review of what I need to be buying. Immediately. If not sooner.
A few things about fall fashion that I've gathered as I've been thinking and reading:
1. I'm loving that supposedly this fall is "all about" individual style. Of course, for most of us that is always the case, but almost everything I've seen in the shows has had an eclectic look that doesn't seem as premanufactured (boho anyone?) as the past few seasons of dumpster chic or whatever those Olsen girls call it.
2. I'm happy about black and sophistication and elegance, but with a twist. I've seen some gorgeous outfits incorporating sophisticated black clothes with brightly-colored tights, shoes and accessories. Woo hoo! Can't wait to wear some winter stuff (and I *never* say that!)
Okay, done gushing. I'm excited about fall clothes, can anyone tell?

I am so in love with this coat:

I love fall/winter clothes, even though I hate the weather! I've seen several magazines that said "statement coats" are a must have for fall, and they've featured some Balenciaga ones that are gorgeous and I'm hoping to see more affordable versions. Also, I love that the wedge is going to stick around in boot form. I've also seen a lot of ads that feature a belt cinched around the waist of a coat, and I really like that look.
Here are some of the things I love the most.
Balenciaga coat (although I think I would prefer it in black).
Again, Balenciaga. I love the line of the jacket with the pants.
I also really loved some of the looks that came from Burberry. This is so wearable and easy to translate for every day. I want to do the same sort of look, but i'd probably use trousers or cropped pants with boots.
I love those Burberry looks! It reminds me of what club monaco has been doing with skirts and cardigans for a while, but on a richer scale. I love those Balenciaga jackets too, but alas, I never need a coat in San Diego *sigh*. I bought a beautiful winter white long coat last year from BR, and only used it once when I was in San Francisco...I still can't wait for fall though. I am loving all the deep, rich colors, and the variety too.
I was just on the Barbara Bui site looking for an image of a skirt I'm wearing today for ThreadStyle. Here are some looks some are spring some are fall that I would like to rock this upcoming season.
Apologizing in advance for the hugeness of the photos.
The skirt on the right: I really want to get a tulip shaped skirt like this! I saw alot of skirts like this in magazines this spring but not too many in the stores. Maybe it's going to take a little more time for this trend to get off the ground.
Totally digging these fall accessories! I love the black bag (maybe without that Davey Crocket tail though)
but i love the black clothing that is this fall... that is what i am all about all the time mixing in deep reds, light ivory/nude and camel... and i am so happy to see a lot of designers going to that color scheme!
mmm shopbop.com has some fall previews.... here are my faves!
i received my BCBG email this morning showing the fall fashions and i. am. in. love....... http://www.bcbg.com b/c they are flash i can't post any of the pictures... but i love the black clothing that is this fall... that is what i am all about all the time mixing in deep reds, light ivory/nude and camel... and i am so happy to see a lot of designers going to that color scheme!
I am also in love! BCBG put out some really, really great looks. I have to have those cuffed top suede wedge boots or I will die.
