oh my gosh, you guys, I this movie. It had me laughing, tearing up and cheering the entire time. it's a documentary about these kids in lower class neighborhoods in NYC who are taking this free ballroom dancing class and then they go on to compete in the annual contest. and watching these 11 year olds practice and dream and yearn is just so inspiring. plus they're really good! they merengue and tango and rhumba and fox trot and swing and they are FABULOUS! oh and the things they say are simultaneously wise and hilarious. go see this movie!!
I really want to see this! It's playing at the movie theater down the block from me. I hope it's there for at least another week so I can try to catch it.
ohh, I have been wanting to see this movie for a while now. I teach dance to little kids so I think I would like it a whole lot. I hope it's still playing near me.
I wanted to see this so badly when it was screening on the Paramount lot since I knew people who worked there, but unfortunately I didn't find out about it until the day after they played it there. I love movies...but I love free movies even more.
I used to teach ballroom and folk dancing to elemerntary school students when I was in college...I miss it SO BAD. I really really do need to see this though. Thanks for the glowing rec!
it's probably not playing in any mainstream theaters? i haven't seen it in my local theater, but then again i live in a very suburban town. probably will have to look for in a smaller, more independent theater?
omg! I saw this, too and it is so good! I was seriously cheering at the end in the movie theatre. Granted, I'm easily excitable but still! I definitely recommend it. It has spellbound beat, fo' sure.
blubirde, i saw spellbound. that was freakin hilarious. if its better than that, i gotta see it. remember that one kid who was totally on this sugar high and bouncin off the walls? i loved him! hehe
