I have been considering having a few of my male cousins as "brides-men" (along with my sister who is my maid of honor). Is that too "weird"? I have mentioned this idea to several people and they all look at me funny. My mom is worried that it is improper and wanted me to ask for your opinions. Thanks girls!!!

Sure!  I don't see any problem with this.  There was a bridesman at the last wedding I went to.

This is a great idea!! I was recently an usher, and no one found it odd. Or maybe they did, but my friend didnt care. I think the idea of bridesmen is fantastic.

Ok maybe I'm just out of the loop but what the heck is a bride's man??? Do they stand on the brides side at the alter??  I've never heard of this.

I think it sounds kinda weird, but if you know what you're doing it could work out just fine.  Congrats girl!!

I've heard of this before.  If you're really close to him, he could be a co-man of honor, too.  I think that if you want to have a bridesman, you should have one. It's your wedding!

i think it sounds fine!  a friend of mine is getting married and he is having his two sisters and two brothers be his "attendants" and his fiancee has 4 of her girlfriends for her side.  i see nothing wrong with it!

I know a # of ppl who have done this an it is always nice. If you are close to them you can do whatever you want at your wedding.

One friend's husband had a best-maid and she wore a black dress and had a butonier(sp?),  and looked like a groomsman in the pictures (she's a pretty girl, but she blended in w/them and not w/the red bridesmaid dresses). i know that the reverse of what you want to do, but....

Really it is all about you and your fiance and who you are close to and want up there next to you on your day. Who cares what everyone else thinks?

Everything is done for the 1st time by someone and someone else inevitably thinks it is strange....IT IS YOUR DAY! DO WHAT YOU WANT!!!!

If thats what you want, do it! My mom had her brother be her "maid" of honor, because that who she was closest to and no one thought it was weird back then. I vote for doing whatever makes you happy.

I totally agree that you should do what ever you want. This is your wedding and there are certain traditions that we should be able to modify. This is cleary one that it will not hurt anyone or be laughed at. Yes there are a few moms, dads, grandmothers that won't get it, but that is ok! They also don't get how crazy we get with spending for weddings now either. Go for it! I wish more brides would do what they want!
