cocktail dresses made casual?

Is it possible to wear black semiformal/cocktail dresses during the day without looking funny?
If so, how would you accessorize?

I have a few dresses that are soo comfortable that I want to wear them on hot days, but I'm not sure if I'll look weird. (I mean casual days, like going to class, not business.) Here are a couple examples: 1. black, a couple inches above the knee, slight A-line, with one of those drapey necklines. 2. black, fuchsia piping around the hem and neckline and as spaghetti straps, knee or slightly below -length, with one of those wide, handkerchief-ish hems.

Thanks!

I think its totally possible as long as the dress is not so sparkly or revealing. You could pair it with a cute bolero/shrug, casual belt, and cowboy boots for a boho look. Or maybe a cardigan and dressy mocs for a sexy librarian look. It all depends on the shape/cut of the dress, but it can be done.
