what would you wear to a christening?
Permalink Closed

I know it's a silly question with an obvious answer probably (all of my questions on here seem to be), but I'm not sure.  I haven't been to a christening (ceremony) since I was young and my mother dressed me (I work Sunday mornings so I've always caught the after parties). I know the day is not about me, and nobody cares what I wear, but I do... I don't want to look inappropriate or anything. I mean, do I just wear what I would wear to any mass at church, or something special? Should I wear a dress, or go more casual with pants and a nice top? I'm not sure and I think that I'm thinking about it too much... any suggestions welcome.

go as if you were going to mass/church. you dont really have to wear a dress. Jeans and a nice top with heels or some cute flats I think is okay too. Just look nice and pulled together

i would dress as you normally would for a church mass. the last one i went to i wore a pair of light grey trousers and a pale yellow tee and heels. think simple. a skirt and a nice top would work too, but i don't think a dress is necessary.

i'm going to have to disagre with tati however, i think jeans are out of the question. but that's just me, i wouldn't wear them to church or a christening.

I agree with hotcocoa - simple, and like what you'd wear to church. I'd probably wear a dress to be safe.... Springy colors. I don't know whether black is thought of as bad luck at a christening in the same way it is at a wedding?

i answered the other poll too. i do think that since a christening is an event, jeans aren't appropriate.
