Today has been a good day... I had my last exam and I got my cute dress I won off Ebay. Well, the seller sent the wrong color, but it's okay because I like the color I got... makes me look tan
BUT the fit wasn't exactly what I was expecting. It's longer than I thought it would be... which is great because I could wear it alone without jeans. But the skirt is big and full. It was one size fits all and it came from Hong Kong so I didn't think there was ANY way it would be too big, but it kinda is.
So be honest... does it look funny from the waist down? Too full? Do I look like a bell? I tried it on with 3 different pairs of shoes for different perspectives. Of course all sales are final so I'm stuck with it now... I just want to know if I could wear it without looking funny.
Super tall wedges
Jack Rogers
Flip flops
I JUST took it out of the package so that's why it's wrinkled. And after I took pictures, I went to the ebay listing and realized I tied the straps wrong. Oops. It looks cuter like this.
i know what you mean though, about the "bell" shape. i bought a similarly shaped dress/top in the spring and haven't worn it at all for that same reason. i'm planning on taking it in on the sides a bit and cutting some length off, perhaps and turn it into a cami.
maybe you could have a tailor take the side seams in a bit to make it less bell shaped and get some of the fullness out? it would be an easy fix.
I think its cute in a very retro sort of way. It doesn't look bad how it is, but might look cute with a belt for a different look. In my mind, I see is with a yellow/gold silk rope tied around the waist?
I think it's very cute as a casual dress, but too full to wear over jeans. If you're not feeling good about it, though, I like the idea of having it tailored.
I think it is cute and I love the colors. I do think it would look a little bit better if it was cut a little slimmer. I'd probably take it to a tailor to see how much it would cost to have it altered a bit.
I think its cute, but yah I would try cinching it in with a belt, you have such a tiny waist! You should show it off. Otherwise alter it at the tailors. Because the seller sent you the wrong color it is their fault, and technically you should be able to return it if you wanted to..
I think it looks cute as is, and you might also try it with a belt. If you sew at all, you could try taking a few inches off each side seam - you'd still have the retro shape, which is great, but it'd be a little more body-conscious.
i do see the bell shape that you're referring to but i think it looks reallly cute! i don't know if you were aiming for cute but i like it alot with the jack rogers. i definitely think you should add something; i dont know what it is but it needs something.
I don't think the bell shape is overly flattering...which is not to say that you couldn't wear it that way, but I think it would flatter your figure much better with a bit of tailoring. Cute dress, otherwise!

I think that color is much better on you then the other color would be. You could always tailor it if you feel uncomfortable in it, but i think its cute!
I think it looks really comfy as is for hot days. But you probably could get it taken in a little through the waist without sacrificing anything. Get some pins and try playing around with pinning it into different shapes to get an idea of what you like before you take it to the tailor.
Very cute and very unique! I love it! Especially with the wedges--so cute. I agree with the other posters that if you're still not loving the shape, take it to a tailor. It looks like there's enough fabric there for them to work with, so altering it shouldn't be a problem.
