I did OK with sticking to my planned purchases. The sewing machine was a bit pricey, but I've been wanting to take up sewing again for ages and it will keep me occupied (and not thinking about shopping maybe?)- I also got some material to make myself a basic black suit, since I don't have one and the material was super cheap so if I screw it up its ok.

No fishy (didn't have time), but I did get some underwear (they're necessary so might as well buy when on sale). And I realized I usually take my haircuts out of my savings account, so that made me feel better about that. Or I'm just too good at rationalizing things to myself.

Oh, I also spent $17 at the DMV but that was because I finally passed the stupid learner's permit test (with a 100% might I add!)! Yay! Now I don't have to feel like a freak with my non-driver's ID anymore.

No shopping for me. (My ban is clothing, shoes, and handbags). I'm actually finding more time to do other things, and like the idea of this so much I might just take another month off after August...maybe. Fall *is* my favorite time of year, so maybe I should restrict myself to bans in the spring instead. *s*

I'm doing pretty well, actually.  I bought conditioner b/c I ran out and I only spent $10 going out on Saturday night (it was $10, get a wristband and a bottomless glass of on-tap beer).

ok, here's how it went.

Fri night I do grocery, and buy, like, 5 lb of coffee beans
Sat morning, after I grind my coffee beans, my coffee grinder stops working. The gas tank in my car is empty, and I am not supposed to spend more (either the gas either the new coffee grinder), so I hop on the bike to go buying the new coffee grinder (I have to use my 5lb of coffee beans, somehow!)

5 min into my ride, it starts raining, but I am not one to be afraid of 2 (or 2000O) drops...So I buy my new coffee grinder.

Get home, try the old one again, for some reason, and I find out I pushed the wrong way, and it's working just fine! So, Sun morning I have to hop on the bike again and return the new coffee grinder (90 F, and about 95% humidity...!

Sat afternoon, I decide that I didn't really need a pair of jeans I bought some time ago, so I took (again) the bike and went to return them. Needless to say, after 10 minutes it starts raining again!!! But I returned them anyway.

Conclusion: I got 3 workouts, didn't spend money for gas, returned the jeans and didn't have to buy the new coffee grinder. If it wasn't for the rain, it would have been really good!

sometimes I feel so stupid...

Lilykind - I feel so guilty that I told you to stick w/ the ban rather than buy the R&Rs, then I bought shoes!  I'm such a hypocrit.

*hugs* I forgive you...just don't buy shoes again!

My weekend was good and bad.

Good things

  • I did not buy the R&R Scorpions. They were indeed real, but the pocket placement was off, leading me to believe that they were $80 because they were irregulars. I've had issues with weird pocket placement on the Scorpions even when they were full price at really nice boutiques, so I guess they weren't meant to be this time around. The reason I oroginally got the Siouxsies for $60 was because they were irregulars as well, but the irregular thing about them was a virtually non noticeable issue with the stitching.

  • I didn't buy the skincare products on my list.

  • I walked into stores to check things out for ST girls but didn't come close to buying anything.

Bad things

  • I deviated from my list anyway, buying a hair serum that prevents split ends and a hair "milk" that works like gel but sans the crunchiness from ym hairdresser

  • My highlights/rinse/haircut cost $415 including tip.

good lord!!! that's a lot but I bet you look phenomenal.

I broke the ban, a planned break though. I had a wedding to go to and I wanted to look fabulous. The guy I was going with asked me if I had anything conservative to wear and I laughed in his face. Um, no. But I was fairly happy with the end result, although it took forever to find something to wear!

The skirt was kind of like this (can't find a pic - it was sale at nordies so only about $50) except mine was lavender and had pink and orange houses/some form of ethnic scene on the bottom with beading instead of the plant looking things on this one. I wore a long, dark purple, silk cami and a black shrug (the skirt had black in white in it too). I topped it off with some crystal and gold jewelry and a gold clutch and I think I looked fab! But not conservative or boring. The boy told me, during the wedding, that I looked like I was from Austin. Best compliment he could have given me, even though he probably didn't know it.

holy crap!!  girl, u gotta stay outta BH!!  even on montana it's not that pricey!  i hope u were sitting between britney & lindsay.

as for my weekend, i spent a grand total of $2!!  i had a date friday & ate my leftovers the next day for lunch.  i also spent a TON of time at the office doing hw, so the only thing i spent money on was a car wash at the coin operated DIY place.  my car looks awesome too!   i still gotta grocery shop & do laundry this week tho, so i have some expenses coming up, but as for clothes & stuff i'm doing great!

I have a "good version" of Ashlee Simpson's current haircut now (layered shaggy cut with face framing bangs )...there was a PILE of hair on the floor. I have too much hair.

It was actually in Santa Monica nearby Shutters and Casa Del Mar.

But thankfully, with the products I bought, this is pretty much a wash-and-wear haircut. I could never get my old haircut to look as good without using a ton of crap on it.

Does a 2 minute walk to the beach and the smell of the ocean come close enough?

We are most definitely on for Wednesday but I have to figure out logistics...like how the hell I'm getting to Santa Monica in time if we're doing Monsoon (traffic will prolly be a bitch on Wilshire) and if not I guess we can do El Floridita again. I'll bug you though about it.

Good work girls (most of you)!

My coffeemaker broke but luckily I had an extra one at my BF's, but I ended up biying coffee twice last week.  Other than that, I have only bought the essentials.  It kinda helps that I actually don't have enough money to spend on clothes, handbags, etc.
