Non-Shopping Weekend July 15 - 17
Permalink Closed

Okay I'm going to post early because I was bad this week!.. well not really, but I am starting to feel guilty about any purchases!

I bought an umbrella because I was caught in the rain and a magazine but only because someone I know is featured. But I'm still walking away from shoes and clothing. I also have been good about resisting makeup, the black hole where alot of my "where did all my money go?"-items are spent on.

Anyway, stay strong this weekend ladies!

well, so far this week i've only spent money on gas & groceries plus $5 for the salsa lesson.  i also earned an extra $50 for a hair modelling job (which i ended up getting paid for even tho the job was cancelled).  as for the weekend, date tonight so no $$ spent there, i've got tons of hw & i may go out w/ friends saturday night but will not spend more than $20.  i also might need to grocery shop again for next week, but i shouldn't spend more than $20 cuz i stocked up this week.  i think i'm doing pretty good & u all know about my "mini-victory"!

I'm already planning to be a little bit bad this weekend- but I have my purchases planned out and will stick to them! I am getting a sewing machine (which will def. save me money in the long run because I have a ton of clothes that are too big but could easily be tailored to fit again, and I am short and always need my pants and skirts hemmed which costs a small fortune) and a fish. yes, a fish. I can't have a baby or a puppy and I need something to take care of darn it! so a fish it is!

edit: and a haircut. desperately needed.

I'm still going strong - I haven't cracked yet.  I don't plan on shopping this weekend at all - I'm staying out of the stores!

I'm glad you posted early.  I walk by the Nordstrom flagship store on my way to work and tons of people were already walking out with their bags from the Anniversary Sale.  I usually don't even like the anniversary sale, but I guess because I'm on a ban, it makes it more intrigueing.

My ban was until the end of July, so I'm 1/2 way there.  Yippee!  However, I think I'm going to pick up a couple things (only if they are on sale) the first weekend of August.  Then I'll be back on the ban until DH and I go to San Francisco in mid-September.

Everyone is doing so good.  I'm really proud of us!

I din't buy anything unnecessary this week, but I'll have to go for groceries today. But I'll spend most of next week away for work, so I shouldn't be spending too much.
It feels so good to see the cc balance to go down!

I too am doing pretty good, even tho' I almost BROUGHT some earrings the other day, but I stayed strong. I may do some WINDOW-SHOPPING this weekend, but I'm almost sure I won't be buying anything. *crossing fingers* My ban is SUPPOSE to be till my b-day in September, but Texas is having a TAX FREE weekend (on clothes/shoes, and certain other items) the 1st weekend of August, so hmmmm...... Must be strong...... Maybe I'll buy some make-up? LOL

this weekend i have my play friday and saturday night and sunday matinee.  doesn't look like i'll be doing much of anything except that!

I've been quite good recently & only got some desperately needed luggage & some floral rubberbands (a la SATC's Carrie) for identifiers.  Thankfully, I got great deals on them & used a store credit, so no $$$ spent yet.

Hang in there everyone!

Oy this weekend...I'm getting my hair cut (it's too bushy) and my roots retouched. The appointment was scheduled back in May.

I have a shopping list and I am damn well gonna stick to it!

  • DDF 10% Glycolic Toner (I am running out of the Peter Thomas Roth gel that I don't like)

  • Shiseido Pureness Moisturizing Gel-Creme

  • if and only if they fit my like a gem and have my size...the R&R Scorpions (see the shopping thread)

No matter what, though, I will feel SO GUILTY, even though the skincare stuff is actually stuff I need (replacements...I had great timing with this ban) just because I will be spending a lot more money that I would have liked to.

I admit I cracked too... I have horrible self control. I blame Neiman's Last Call! I got the Twelfth St. short sleeved linen blazer and a MJ top for SUPER cheap. This morning I also won a gorgeous vintage clutch off ebay. But no more shopping! I will gladly hold out my wrists so that you guys can slap them.

I did well this week, only spent money on necessary items(groceries, etc). I did buy the new Lucky mag, but other than that, I did not crack. I got a haircut today(a really great one, she outdid herself, I feel so preeeeettty), but that is a necessity. I was in, or walked by several stores today displaying sales, sales, sales, and I did not budge on the ban. Yahoo. Looks like everyone else did great!! Congratulations to us!! I just realized I cant buy the Harry Potter book tonight.....books are on my ban list. I wonder if I could make an exception. Why, oh, why didn't I pre-purchase.??

Well I've stuck to my ban for the most part.  Only getting things on my list and using up what I have already (including this crappy dove deodorant!). Except I did crack yesterday while shopping and bought myself a cd on sale for 7.99 (instead of 17.99) and a christmas present for my bf.  The christmas present doesn't count though does it?? Its not on the list but its not for me.  Plus I'm saving money by buying now and not later...

Sage- Hmm about the book...its $16.99 at amazon.com...I'm getting it in august for a trip so I'll probably be breaking the ban over it then so I can't say anything to discourage you except if you wait a week or two a few used copies will start showing up and they might be cheaper.  I know the libraries probably have long lists of people waiting to check them out.

Doh!  I bought a pair of shoes.  At least it wasn't an impulse purchase, I've been thinking about them for a while.

Lilykind - I feel so guilty that I told you to stick w/ the ban rather than buy the R&Rs, then I bought shoes!  I'm such a hypocrit.

I cracked! I bought some shorts (which I've been dying for.. I don't own any) and a tank top from Reuhl (which was unnecessary but I really like it).

I am posting more stuff on Ebay today to make up for it!

lsubatgirl I broke down and bought the book. The store had it on for 24 and change but then you could trade in some of your loyalty points for a further 10 dollars off, so I got Harry Potter for around 15 dollars with tax. So, yes I broke the ban, but what a great deal. Sooo.....I am a total freakin failure on this ban. Ahh, well, tomorrow is another day.

I am proud of everyone !!!
