A very sweet, reliable, and truthful little birdie told me she saw authentic R&R Scorpions for $80 at a boutique that sells current, in-season items. My size is one of the few available. Said boutique is located in close proximity to my hairdresser whom I will be visiting on Saturday.
I am on a shopping ban.
I have wanted these jeans like crazy crazy since last September. I am convinced they are perfect. Heck, my fashioable male coworker said they were the ultimate "sexy jeans" when I showed him a pic of them on ELuxury and considered them worth the full price tag. I've come close to purchasing them many times in other boutiques at full price, before they really hit the department stores (Bloomies just got a huge stock of them last month). I do have a party to go to next Friday at a swanky hotel/club spot (TBD) and it would defintely be nice to have them...
This is one of the "ultimate tests"...like I've been able to resist so much and I'm really proud of myself, but this is...well I'm so torn!
I hate to be an enabler but I would get them. Especially because you have wanted them for so long. Bans in general are to keep you from making random purchases!!

I totally understand the whole shopping ban thing...I'm kinda on one now! But sometimes there are things you just can't pass up! This is such an awesome deal and you've been wanting them for quite awhile. Indulge on this one item and get back on your ban immediately after!

I'm usually not in favor of breaking a shopping ban for ANY reason, but I think you should RUN to that boutique tomorrow and get them. I know that you have wanted them forever and dangit, you made me want them too! So get them, Lilykind. Get them and wear the heck out of them and love them for me too!

I have to also be a fellow shopping ban enabler. My DH just enlightened me to the fact that if it's something I KNOW I will purchase in the fall, I am saving money (so I have money) to buy it in the fall, wouldn't it be stupid to spend more money on it later out of principle? (btw, he is loving the shopping ban because i haven't spent $20 here & there & there is WAY more money in my acct) I hate to agree with reason, but dang, that's true.
SO just in case you are confused by my answer, I say if you are getting them anyway, yes, fine, get them.

I'm on the ban too so I know how you feel. I think you should get them. The purpose of the ban is to not waste money on random things and to save. You've wanted these jeans for forever and you know you will get a ton of wear out of them...buying them for 80 bucks will sae you in the long run because you know sooner or later you're gonna break down and get them- might as well do it while they're on sale! Go to the boutique, buy them and NOTHING ELSE, and tack an extra week onto your ban to make up for it.
No, really -- I think you should get them.I don't really believe in shopping bans anyway. Maybe you could buy them and then just lock them up until your ban is over? Then it would feel like it was your first non-ban purchase.

lilykind are you absolutely 100% positive they're real? are there real ones you can compare to for reference? are they returnable? because here's the thing: those jeans aren't going anywhere, you'll get them sooner or later and i'd rather you didn't break the ban. i hate to be the stick in the mud but i really want to your cc debt to be gone and if it's not, you're going to be paying interest on those $80 which will really make the jeans more than just $80. so...i guess my answer's no, don't break the ban. sorry!
If the jeans you want are the same in the picture, definintly buy them! Those are way cool. I didn't buy that teal Anthropologie cardigan I posted, it's gone now, and I'm upset! Some things you come across, a shopping ban must be lifted for that brief moment.
I think you should get them despite the ban only b/c you've been craving them for close to a year. That price alone isn't going to last long & if you don't get them, you'll kick yourself w/lots of regrets.
I voted no. You're on a ban. I don't know if you're only going until August, but if so, you're halfway there! Just hang on...I know you've wanted them for a long time, and it's hard, but you can do it!!

I say get them! You decided to the do the ban long before you knew these jeans would come into your life (I'm sure you would have opted out of the ban if you knew these jeans were going to pop up in your near future), so get them! Remember there is always and exception the rule.
i'm torn. i agree with halleybird in that i don't really believe in shopping bans, but esquiress had a point. i would say if you can buy them without breaking your current budget and/or using your credit card, then go for it. but if you can't then don't.
i vote yes! my fave little boutique had a deal 2 pairs of jeans for $150 a few weeks ago and i got the R&R scorpions then. i adore them! you MUST get them- esp. if you have been dying for them all this time! its not like this is a random purchase!

I was going until October, but I'm really a fall/winter person and it almost never gets cold enough in Los Angeles to bring that stuff out until November. The aim was to eliminate all random purchases as well as pay off cc debt ($5 Loehmanns top I never wore...$50 wasted on things at Forever 21, etc. etc.).
I actually resisted the Scorpions after I knew they were at Bloomies because I have issues with dropping $187 on a pair of jeans and was going to purchase them at the next private sale (it's in either October or November I think...or maybe February)
I will visit them tomorrow and I will see if they are real. I've tried on a million pairs but I've had problems every time with irregular pocket placement or the price or the wash...it's always something. We will see.

I say no, too. I think the hardest thing about a shopping ban is that there always seems to be situations that come up and test you: some sale, good coupon, or friend that just started working at a store and can get you a discount. The situation will seem unique and worth breaking the ban for, but the thing is: if you really think about it, you probably come across these "once in a lifetime" shopping opportunities all the time. That is one of the things that leads us to shop so much in the first place, right? Good opportunities? We see something and based on factors like price, material, color, and style, we think THIS is the perfect addition to our wardrobe, or even the piece that is going to complete our wardrobe and at that moment, we feel there is never going to be something else better. It's not very often that we buy things thinking that something like that is going to be available all the time. So...I say stay on the shopping ban because there will always be another pair of jeans on sale. You will eventually like another pair of jeans better than these R&R's and that pair of jeans can go on sale too or you may have a good code or coupon to a store that sells them.
If this were me, I would probably end up buying the jeans and then next week, there would be a 70% sale or a $100-if-you-spend-$300 certificate at BCBG and I would be like, "well, I can't pass that up" and then the next week, I would finally find a shirt to go with some oddly colored skirt that really doesn't go with anything in my closet and I would buy that. I think once you tell yourself it is okay to break the ban for a certain item, it opens it up for you to do it everytime. Just wait-your ban ends in October and there will be things you want then that you can't even imagine right now and you will have money to buy those things.
I voted yes....but that is b/c I recently bought the Scorpions and I am literally head over heels in love with them. I am semi-curvy (which is my nice way of saying I have a big ol' butt) and they are beyond flattering! And at $80 - can't go wrong!
The only problem is that they are the longest jeans in the history of the world. At 5'7", I never ever had to hem my jeans...but the scorpions are insanely long and require a trip to a trusted hemmer.
Sorry to sway you to break your ban, but they are amazing jeans. (And as a huge bonus i my opinion - they are not really that big in LA. I hate wearing a pair jeans that every other person in a 50 mile radius is wearing.)
