Any Telecommuters?
Permalink Closed

hey ladies, so i have to write a persuasive research paper for my business communications class & he would prefer it to relate to the job we are at.  so i have chosen to convince my company to allow us to telecommute.  i don't really know much about it tho so i was wondering if any of u actually do it & if u were at ur company when it made the transistion & can tell me what made them switch & stuff like that.  thanks i would appreciate any input at all, even if it's second-hand.  i have to do research anyways, i just want an "angle", hehe.  TIA!

Hmm I haven't ever telecommunted but a friend of my family's DIL did while she was pregnant with triplets because her client wanted her to stay on the job (she was an auditor with a Big 5 acct firm at the time).  It worked well for her because she was on bed rest and still got to work on the assignment.  She just dialed into the company's intranet and did her normal tasks that way and since her husband worked for the same firm if there was any paperwork he would bring it back and forth.  I'm sure even if the husband didn't work there that they would still have found a way to send paperwork back and forth without her having to leave home.

My friend is working for another big 4 now and they allow telecommuting when you don't have to go to a client's site.  Like general work you can do from home instead of going into the office but I don't know much about that situation.  I can ask her about it friday if you want.  She was an intern for them the past 2 summers and learned about it that way. Interns weren't allowed to actually do it though.
