My close friend (who lives 500 miles away) is getting married in mid May.
It's an evening wedding at Todaro's. I asked her what the tone of the wedding is, and she sent me this.
dress to impress. most are wearing silver, black or semi-formal attire (the mammas & pappas and bro/sis, are black tie, of course).
I haven't been to a wedding that isn't in a barn in a long time, so I could use your assistance!
The bride is a pretty easy-going person, and I'm sure she doesn't require that we wear only silver and/or black, but what are your thoughts?
Can my husband wear a medium gray suit (similar to attached) or should he wear his black one?
I was originally going to ask if the dress below was too fall-like, but now I need to know if you think it's appropriate, overall. -- with a shrug or wrap.
Thanks!

I can't get the attachment but a dark suit is fine for semi-formal for him (with shirt/tie). That dress is gorgeous. Sounds like an LBD would be appropriate too.
LOL on "dress to impress" - it's a wedding; whom would you be impressing? The groom's relatives?
I think that dress is perfect. It's dark so it will "go" with whatever kind of vision she seems to have for her wedding, but it shows more personality thank an LBD!

Okay. Change of plans. I have lost weight since I bought the plummy floral dress featured at the top. I am not in the mood to get it altered at this point, and--to be honest--the structured bodice is making me feel self-conscious--even with a shrug on. It's a little JPG/Madonna, especially for Akron, OH.
Anyway, I found this dress below. What do you think about it?
I would also like to solicit suggestions. If you see anything that would be appropriate, would you please post it? Thanks! $250 max.

I'm not a big fan of a print, the dress looks heavy to me because of it. I know that florals are big this season, but I particularly dislike this one...sorry. Oh, I know why: we come from Russia/former USSR, so women back there walked around the house in house robes, you know, flanel robe ( like terry, but in flanel), so it reminds me of those kinds of prints. The shape of the dress however is beautiful.
