I really, really like it.  It looks like something that I would want when I get married.  It's glamourous and princessy all at the same time. Perfection!

LMonet,

Of all people, I'm the one to ask: Can you bargain with the shop owner to make a deal on the total price of the dress & alterations?  You're about to make her a big sale.  Apprx. 1850 + 350 = $2200 w/alterations.  When I got married & visited several shops & even if they didn't have it in stock they were able to order it & go into a bidding war to win your sale from other boutiques.  Or you could take a to a private seamstress to alter for a lot less.

Believe me laken1, this is something I vacillate about everyday.  There are so many good points for supporting "It's one dress - think of what else you could do with that money!" and "It's the only wedding day you'll ever have - buy what you love!".  I'm at once feeling guilty for considering spending that much and elated for maybe getting my dream dress.

My rationalization has been this - I NEVER splurge on ANYTHING EVER.  We can swing it financially, and this is my chance to do something indulgent for myself.  Also, I want the dress to be a family heirloom (unlike my mothers puff-sleeved polyester number) and therefor I'm willing to spend a bit more as it would technically be an investment piece .

Please don't feel sad laken1 !

I think if you are ever going to splurge, this is the time. I really hate to say this & i know we are only seeing it in a picture - but I think it fits you so well - do you have to have the bodice raised? I have looked at the picture a couple times since & I think it's fine. Does it just bother you when you have it on? I mean, I could understand that & if you are going to spend that much I imagine you do want a PERFECT fit....

I wouldn't feel guilty for spending that much - it is your wedding dress & if you can swing the $$, I'd do it. It's just beautiful.

Yes, I definitely think you should go for, LMonet, especially since you said you want it to be an heirloom piece.  It's one of the prettiest dresses I've seen. I keep coming back to this post just to look at it! You should indulge yourself, it's your wedding!
