Anyone been to Vegas lately?

I'm going in 3 weeks for a night or two.  Just wondering what people here have done on recent trips, and what's new (been a year since I've been there).

Thanks!

i just got back.  the wynn has been open for a few months; it's beautiful.  i believe PURE at ceasars is pretty new and the pussycat dolls are there.  the forum shops at ceasars have expanded and some new stores are there..  scoop nyc, anthropologie, and other fun ones.  but i am dying to find out what the smells are in the venetian and mandalay bay... so if you get a chance ;)

Thanks for the info.  I really want to check out the Wynn casino.  My husband will be there for a week before I get out there (work), so hopefully he wins big and I can go on a Caesars spree!!!

I have a super-sonic sniffer, so I bet I can smell the scent too.  I'll try to figure it out.  If you think about it in a few weeks, remind me!

edit:  I just did a quick google for "venetian casino scent" and this came up along w/ a few more listings that I didn't read.

Taking a cue from retailers, casinos often circulate oils and scents into their ventilation systems to try to put gamblers in a good mood. In 1991, the Mirage Hotel and Casino in Las Vegas started circulating the smell of coconut butter on its property to match the casino's tropical resort theme. At 500,000 square feet, the gaming/hotel section of the Mohegan Sun complex in Uncasville, Conn., is the largest scented building in the world. It has more than a dozen different smells circulating within its walls, says Mark Peltier, cofounder of AromaSys, the firm that installed the system. The Venetian casino in Las Vegas, also an AromaSys client, circulates an array of herbal scents, including lavender, throughout the casino floor.

Why the olfactory overload? It's generally believed that people will stay longer — and therefore spend more — in a place with a pleasant smell, says Peltier. Lavender aromas, in particular, have been clinically proven to induce drowsiness and promote relaxation, says Wendell Combest, a professor at the Shenandoah University School of Pharmacy. The scents have no known harmful side effects, but be aware that it might be more than just the free drinks making you feel so happy-go-lucky.

Yeah, I was just there for 12 days. (I know, very long, but I love that city!). Anyway, the Wynn is worth checking out. PURE at Ceasar's is fun, but I don't think it lives up to its "#1 Nightspot in the Country" title. Pussycat Dolls Lounge is there too, and that's a lot of fun. I also really like Rain and Ghostbar (both at Palms) and LOVE Body English (at Hard Rock). For general hanging out, I definitely recommend Palms and Hard Rock. All young people, and lots of cute boys. :)
