I do love Zappos and their service is amazing, However I am starting to think that you pay for it. For instance, I was looking for a specific pair of Steve Madden shoes and they were about $15 more on zappos.com than any other site that I found them on. I guess its not a huge deal. Has anyone else noticed a slight price increase?

I have noticed that you can find the same shoes elsewhere for a better price, but the knowledge that you're going to get your shoes quickly with no problems and "free" shipping makes up for it. So, if you order your shoes, don't like them, and return them, you're not out any money at all because they don't charge shipping either way. I love that.

I agree that they are sometimes more expensive- such as in the case of the Steve madden VIPs that I bough for $65 when they were $50 elsewhere (but I couldn't find my size either anywhere else.) I only shop around when I already know my size, Zappos makes it too tempting with free returns plus they have such a big selection. I like ordering two sizes and then returning one of them, that way I don't have to waste time returning and then getting the new size.

Okay, I have to just get all excited about zappos again. I got a pair of boots and of course they ship night day and it's free so how great is that! Okay, so I'm waiting on a pair of boots and they sent me an email saying that the box to my shoes is damaged but the shoes are 100% fine. So.....they took $5 off! Yay for me! Only $5 but it beats a stick in the eye.

Remember, there is no free lunch. I hate to sound so cynical, but "free" shipping costs are built into the price of the item(s) being shipped. Just like some places often mark up higher in order to have a "sale" or markdowns...don't get me wrong, I like Zappos - I'm not negging on them. But ultimately, one has to decide whether the convenience and great CS is worth paying for (I think so; but I'm a fiend for customer service). Plus Zappos can truly almost be a one-stop shopping site, so that convenience is worthwhile too.
