maybe one of the stylish mamas here can give me some advice!

later this month i'm going to san francisco to visit my brother and his wife. they're expecting their first child in december and this will be the first time we've seen each other since they found out. i'd love to bring her a gift, and also something for the baby. what kinds of things would an expectant mother like for herself? i figure the baby gift can be something useful like onesies, but would enjoy giving her something indulgent or fun.

what a nice thought, a gift for mama too! it may sound a bit cliche or mundane, but a nice tub of cocoa butter from the body shop would be thoughtful. i went through countless tubs to relieve the itch of a stretching belly. a gift certificate for a maternity massage (special tables with a spot/hole for the belly to rest). never had one but have heard they are awesome. anything soothing and comforting for the body. pregnancy has a way of making every part of your body ache in some way or another at some point. a pedicure is nice too, because there comes a point when you cannot reach your toes anymore, but everyone can still see them.

at one point i wanted to get a pregnant friend a poncho for her birthday. might be good for the san francisco weather too. i figured that it was something stylish she could wear while pregnant AND afterwards too.

i'll keep thinking for ya

thanks, those are great ideas! i'd never have thought of the poncho but that sounds perfect. a tube of cocoa butter will definitely be making the flight with me next week.
