Smebody please help! I really need a hobby. I'm getting so depressed being cooped up in my apartment with nothing to do. I really enjoy reading normally, but I'm getting really bored with that. I've never really had a "thing" that I do. My bf plays guitar and has that to do, but I have NOTHING. I really fear for my sanity. I work full time, but I can't just relax after work, I need to keep busy. Can anyone please share their ideas or own hobbies with me to give me some ideas before I go nuts....
I have a ton of hobbies (too many to actually keep up with as much as I'd like). Here are some of them:
Jewelry Design
Art: Drawing, painting, sculpting, ect
Crafts: Beading (part of jewelry design), Painting jewelry boxes, making Christmas ornaments
Scrapbooking
Musical Theatre (singing, dancing, acting)
Playing piano
Writing
Dreaming up new business schemes
As you can see, most of my hobbies are artistic in nature b/c that's where most of my talents lie. Some people's hobbies are more athletic, like different sports, running, ect (although, I do love to run and swim as well). I think it might be helpful to make a list of things that spark your interests (be it anything from taking pictures to birdwatching) and narrow it down from there. Also, you could go to a bookstore and check out all of the magazines that are geared toward hobbies and that might get you started. HTH!
If you can afford it, I would get an electric piano (more fun than a regular piano), they don't take up a lot of space (you can put them away in a closet or under a bed). They have cool ones that the keys light up, signaling which keys to press and you can learn some cool songs and can buy more of those cd's to learn new songs. Those cost a couple grand last I checked. I still want one, but until then, I still have my regular electric one.
I'm also into painting, oil and acrylic. My favorite it to get a picture of a flower and paint it on canvas. (see my avatar). You can also make money from this. My first oil painting 8x10 of an up-close peach colored rose sold on ebay for $40.
Scrapbooking.
Quilling (which you can embellish the scrapbooks with!)
Oh yes, beading as well. I have done French beaded flowers, and jewelry.
You can also check out crafterschoice.com. That's where I get my books from. You can come up with a new hobby there!
I have been embroidering lately. It's got to be one of the cheapest hobbies ever. If you are interested in anything crafty, go to http://www.crafster.org and just browse. It is a forum site for crafting, but the crowd is more hip than your gramma's quilting circle.

I was about to say the exact same thing!! I have been embroidering & I did this cool tank because I couldn't find one to match a shrug I have (just an old navy tank):
But craftster.org is so cool - they are very inspiring & seem really helpful. Makes me feel artsy just being on there!!

i participate in my community theatre productions which is quite fun and extremely time consuming! and i also sit on their board and participate in our local Arts Council, which is also a lot of fun.
