Okay, I was talking with one of my co-workers today at lunch about how I would like to find a school with a Graphic Design program that isn't going to cost me a fortune and is close to work. He suggested a great school that I never would have thought of.
Well, I looked them up and sure enough, it will definitely work with my schedule. They offer associate degrees (I figure, I already have a bachelor's, so I'm fine with supplementing with an associate) *and* I'll also be able to combine the graphic design with an associate in Studio Art (the courses overlap to an extent). So, I'll have a great portfolio building experience which hopefully will help me, both with my day job career and with my own jewelry design business, as well as help me get into an MFA program at an art school (I'm thinking the one in Savannah, GA). After that, I plan to get an MBA. Yeah, I'm going to be in school forever, but I'm one of those crazies that actually likes school!
So, I plan to start classes in the winter (get moved by the end of the summer, save money in the fall and then start school). I'll be finished in just over a year (not too shabby). It's something I've been wanting to do and I finally found a way to do it! I feel like my life is finally starting to roll (be it ever so slowly) in the right direction.
Congrats on your plan. I have to say that I understand how it seems like you will be in school forever, because I am in the same boat. I have recently decided to change fields for the second (and hopefully last) time since I left college. Funnily enough I am going right back to square one into the field that I was majoring in when I started college. I have been mapping out my plan to finish the schooling that I need so I know how important that it is to have a plan, to stick to it and to not let anything derail it. At this rate I will not be done with school until I am 31 and I will actually have to stop working for a year and go full time to do it. So you are not alone (and I am a crazy that likes school too).
So bravo to you my dear, I hope that it all goes well for you:).

Thanks for your words of encouragement, ladies! I had forgotten that I posted this. Anyway, here's an update: I sent in my application and I'm meeting with an admissions counselor to get everything started. I'm so excited about taking graphic design and studio art classes. Not only will it provide another creative outlet, but it will help me in my career (hopefully).
Savannah?! Woot! I'm in Atlanta, as you know...we'll have to plan a get-together! How exciting for you; I hope this works out - I think this is a great career choice for you. Yay!

Woohoo! I want to visit Savannah, since I've never been there. And of course, I won't be enrolling until at least Spring 2008 b/c I have to finish my supplemental degree classes, but time flies right?
