I got my first fall clothing catalogs in the mail this week. I can't WAIT to buy normal people clothes again - but I feel so out of the fashion loop...


tell me...what are going to be your choices for key pcs. and accessories this fall? I want to start scouting early!

What I really want and what I'll be able to afford are two different things.


I realize I am more of a fall/winter person than a spring/summer person. I am pretty much sticking to a earth tone scheme with a few colorful touches. I do love my black things though, so black and grey figure into my wardrobe a lot as well.



  • Brown plaid cropped trousers
  • Grey plaid cropped trousers
  • Burgundy/plum velvet or wool blazer (maybe tweed)
  • Wool cloches in multiple colors (black, pink, plum, green, red)
  • Brown knee-high boots (endless search because my calves are hard to fit)
  • Black knee-high boots (see above...I have a great Kenneth Cole pair now but I'm afraid I won't find another good pair before they wear out)
  • Sweater vests
  • Chunky wrap sweater

I want shoes too, but I need to see what's out there. Also, I really really need to learn how to accesorize with jewelry. 


ETA: I need squirrel things too!

Lilykind, I don't want to be stupid, but what are wool cloches?

For fall I want:
Designer jeans (i have none)
New tall black boots - EDIT - I HAVE THESE - I FOUND THE ONES I BOUGHT AT END OF LAST SEASON - THEY ZIP UP THE BACK - so sad - I really do need this shopping ban if I can't even remember buying boots (my disclaimer is that they aren't fabulous)
EDIT: Add tall BROWN boots since I don't have these.... I must be insane.
A cardiwrap - maybe emerald green?
I will be looking for unusual cardigans - I'm sick of the "plain" ones I have - maybe crocheted or lace
Long cardigan sweaters - glad to see that will be "back" this fall - i love those
Military jacket - maybe red?


As you can see i'm not as specific as others, I am just starting this "list" for the season thing, so I haven't picked out absolute pieces yet.

LOL don't worry...basically they're hats. They were really popular in the 20s with the whole flapper look, but I wear them with everything. I have my brown one on in this week's TS.


BTW, you should get the BCBG emerald cardi-wrap...when I went into BCBG last Friday I saw some and I think they were 50% off!

Well, I really shouldn't be thinking about shopping as I just joined the ban, but these are things that I will purchase AFTER I meet my goal


OK I don't know how to do bullets


1) navy blue trouser pants (preferably with accents down the side seam)


2) shawl collar chunky sweater


3) sophisticated but unique satchel (like the botkier clyde, but don't know if I can swing it)


4) a cool bustier to wear under suits


5) slouchy fold over knee high boots


6) cute work appropriate dresses


7) plaid pants


8) cute mary janes


That is quite a list...eek!

I don't have much but:


Hats! I'm very excited that newsboys are "back" - IMO they never left, ha ha.


Menswear-ish pants.


Lots of colorful thin sweaters for layering and mismatching.


ETA:


A camel-colored, brocade or other patterned trench


A big fluffy faux fur coat


On a side note, I thought Harper's Bazaar had a great preview of fall clothes this month.

i don't know what i want for fall yet but i did order a few sale pieces from anthro today that i emailed you about. i bet you can't wait to wear normal stuff again!!!  i thought some of these were versatile.

Summer doesn't last very long around here, so I'm already on the lookout.  Today it's only 61 degrees.  Next week will be nice.  Here is my list:



  1. Brown pants-not corduroy

  2. Brown leather boots-no higher than mid calf.

  3. Coat-this should probably be black.

  4. Tan to brown casual blazer.  Very fitted.

  5. A selection of cardigans in black, brown or burgundy (and that teal one I've been talking bout!)

  6. A few sweaters and tops in fall shades.

  7. Hoping to find silk camis that are straight across-not for cleavage showing, since I don't have.

  8. brown leather bag.

here is my list for fall:

  • oversized cardigans (i saw one at A&F that I loved)

  • a pair of burgandy stacked heels

  • lots of purple and burgandy accent pieces

  • maybe a couple new cashmere turtlenecks
