Bare Escentuals

So I've seen this make-up line advertised on infomercials, and was wondering if anyone here has ever tried it? It's suppose to be bare minerals (no chemicals or other stuff), suppose to be REALLY good for your skin, and I'm looking for a new make-up line to try, something new, and that will IMPROVE my skin.

you might want to do a search for it on here---there are some really good posts about it on stylethread. also, check our MUA---makeup alley and read the posts about it. I did a lot of research first to see what to buy.

I love it. fun to use and my face likes it to.

they have some great starter kits on the bare minerals website.

whatever you don't use, you can sell on ebay. I spent $140 on a ton of stuff (about $350 retail--) and kept half and sold half and made $120 on ebay. i sold a lot of the brushes b/c i had nice ones already.

I did keep three brushes for myself....the concelear, eyeliner and one foundation brush. I kept one of the foundations, the travel compact, the warmth, the bisque concealer, true---a blush, clear radiance, an eyeshadow, the mineral veil, the instruction video and the glycolic lotion.

i also went to the mall and got a makeover at the bare minerals store but they used way too much makeup- you have to have a light hand with this stuff.

 i am really enjoying it.

It depends on if your skin can handle just having powder on your face or not.  My skin gets very red and irritated with just powder as a base so I couldn't use this stuff.  If you want to try it before buying check your local sephora and ask for a free makeover using this stuff.  Then you can wear it for a day and see how your skin reacts.

i just bought the starter kit from sephora and i really like it so far. my skin is dry, and prone to break outs and blotchiness, and after using this for about a week i think ive seen a lot of improvement. it takes a little practice, but its well worth it. i live in Houston- very humid! so a powder is preferable to liquid foundation (i always looked super-dewy after being outside for only 10 minutes). if you don't want to splurge for the started kit (the brushes are fairly good), at least get the spf 15 foundation and mineral veil. you should be able to work all your usual cosmetics in with those (blush, eye shadow etc)

i also highly recommend the eye liners- i've never liked pencils and they give you so much, and richly pigmented. hth!

I use a similar mineral line to bare escentuals called Jane Iredale. When i'm through my compact i'll probably switch to Bare escentuals. Most mineral lines are about the same.

I love love love mineral makeup. I do not think that i could ever switch to a non-mineral foundation ever again. My skin is extremely sensitive and just a wash cloth touching my face freaks it out.

The application is easy once you get used to it; gives you a natural flawless look; and is good for your skin. I recommend trying the line or any of the mineral lines.

i have the coffee bean and love- use it everyday. i usually get the brush a little damp, dot it into the powder, and then create a small amount of paste in the lid. the key is consistancy- too wet and its like liquid eyeliner (a mess!) too dry and it ends up on your cheeks. i think brush gives more precision than a pencil, and allows you to create a line of various widths. give it a try, just practice on your old eyeshadows, if youre still thinking of returning the coffee bean.
